Most people couldn’t dream of stealing scenes away from colorful characters like Star-Lord and Rocket Raccoon, but Drax the Destroyer isn’t most people. The hilariously literal warrior won us over in this summer’s Guardians of the Galaxy, with his dry delivery, tragic sob story, and badass moves. Now it seems Marvel’s hoping he’ll do the same in Avengers 3.
Rumor has it Dave Bautista is being set up for a major role in the upcoming threequel, which is expected to close out Phase Three of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Hit the jump for all the details.

I’m still trying to figure out how Guardians of the Galaxy works. It’s a movie set in an unfamiliar universe, it introduces several new characters with diverse backstories on numerous worlds, and features a talking raccoon, a fighting tree, familial death, and multiple villains, all set to seventies and eighties pop music. On paper, there’s no way the movie should work. But not only did writer/director James Gunn find the perfect mix to make it work, Guardians of the Galaxy soars. All of those elements marry each other just right to tell a singular, direct and entertaining story. Along the way there’s room for jaw-dropping and innovative action, beautiful visuals, robust characterizations and more laughs than probably all the other Marvel movies combined. Yes, Marvel has another winner in Guardians of the Galaxy. Read the rest of our Guardians of the Galaxy review below. Read More »

August 1 is coming very, very quickly. Then, audiences will finally get to see the Marvel Cinematic Universe go fully cosmic in James Gunn‘s Guardians of the Galaxy. Thanks to trailers, commercials, posters and more, most of us have already seen pretty much all we need from the film, which stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper as the Guardians. For others, maybe there’s still a desire for a little more. Maybe just a few images that show the scope of the film and offer an up-close and personal look at the bad guy, Ronan the Accuser, played by Lee Pace.
That’s what you have below. Seven new Guardians of the Galaxy photos featuring the planet Knowhere, Ronan and even new shots of heroes Rocket and Groot. Read More »
Cool Posts From Around the Web:
Guardians of the Galaxy opens in just six weeks, so this is the point where Marvel really has to start the full-court press. The first two trailers, a couple of TV commercials, and those character videos have all started to introduce the strange team of characters. Now a new Guardians of the Galaxy international trailer gives some more detail to that crew: a thief, two thugs, a murderer, and a maniac, as Glenn Close says in this new footage.
(Chris Pratt‘s character ran down the same roster, with one slight difference, in the last trailer. I’ll let you figure out the alteration here.)
This trailer also contains some new Rocket footage, and a good bit of input from Groot (voiced by Vin Diesel). Read More »

Guardians of the Galaxy doesn’t really look like anything that’s come before it in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. That’s a good thing for those of us eager to see Marvel branch out, but a potential WTF for those who take comfort in Marvel’s reliability and consistency.
So a new Guardians of the Galaxy featurette tries to encourage those in the latter camp to join the former. Producer Kevin Feige and stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, and Bradley Cooper promise the film will “blow you away with how unique it is,” while still reassuring viewers that it’s part of the same old MCU. Watch it after the jump.
