The end credits on the Robert Rodriguez film Machete made a big promise: “Machete Will Return in Machete Kills and Machete Kills Again!” The first sequel has been the subject of speculation ever since the 2010 release of Machete, and now it is financed and getting ready to shoot.
Producer Alexander Rodnyansky is behind the film, which Rodriguez will direct based on a script by Kyle Ward. Danny Trejo and other cast members who play characters that survived Machete are all in talks to return, and the film might shoot as soon as April of this year. Read More »

You might remember Epic Beard Man, who achieved instant internet fame in early 2010 when a video was posted of him kicking the ass of a guy on an Oakland city bus. Now — and this isn’t a joke — the incident has been turned into a movie that looks like it has elements of Machete and Hobo With a Shotgun, in that Danny Trejo plays a bearded old dude who becomes a local icon after beating down a couple skinheads on a bus. And then… he fights for justice! Or something.
See a trailer for the film, which is simply called Bad Ass, below. Read More »
The two existing Harold & Kumar movies have gone a long way towards keeping raunchy, healthy R-rated humor alive over the past few years. The third one, A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas, seems to be operating on the principle that you can get away with just about anything, so long as it is all wrapped up in a big holiday bow.
The first trailer made the third film look mildly manic and possibly funny. This new red-band trailer (which is very NSFW) makes it look straight-up wrong. Which is as it should be. Read More »
Considering A Very Harold and Kumar Christmas is a 3D, drug-induced Christmas story, it’s obviously going to be crazy. The first trailer bolstered that point as did the first batch of posters. Yahoo has just premiered a new batch of posters and after looking at these, “crazy” doesn’t seem to be a strong enough word to describe what we’re going to see come November 4. Of course, there’s Harold (John Cho) and Kumar (Kal Penn) as seen above, but after the jump you’ll see Neil Patrick Harris with a big stick, a stoned Santa Claus, Jesus Christ, a creepy Danny Trejo and much more. Little known fact: casting never stops in Hollywood because movies constantly need actors. See? You learn something new everyday. Here’s one such update with five films that have all made major additions to their cast. After the jump read much more about:
- Weeds star Mary Louise Parker joining the comic book adaptation R.I.P.D.
- Anna Paquin, Ryan Phillippe and Luke Wilson all getting Straight A’s
- Danny Trejo and M.C. Gainey heading to Haunted High
- Abigail Breslin killing her mom as a Class Project
- Michael Fassbender being offered the lead in Prisoners

Cool Posts From Around the Web:
It’s been three years in real time since we last caught up with stoner buds Harold & Kumar (in 2008’s Harold & Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay) but it’s been six years of time within the movies since the two friends played by Kal Penn and John Cho last spent time together. Their third film, and their first in 3D (and first outright holiday movie) sees the pair reunited and, judging by the looks on their faces, back in trouble.
The first full official image of the pair and persistent scene-stealer Neil Patrick Harris is after the break. Read More »
Depending on what you want out of Robert Rodriguez, this first trailer for Spy Kids: All the Time in the World may either instill dismay (“he made this instead of a ‘real’ movie?”) or happiness (“if he wants to make this, then let someone else do Deadpool“). This looks like a Canadian promo for the film — check the Alliance logo where the Weinstein-related one should be — but I imagine it is very similar to the US trailer we’re likely to see. Check it out below. Read More »
The Tom Hanks company Playtone is putting together Game Change, in which Julianne Moore will play Sarah Palin under the direction of Jay Roach (Austin Powers). The film follows the 2008 Presidential election, and Ed Harris plays John McCain. Now Ron Livingston has been cast as Mark Wallace, senior advisor to the McCain-Palin ticket. In other words, he gets to play the guy who coached Sarah Palin for her debates, and so his scenes with Julianne Moore could be gold. And, no, this movie is not a comedy. At least, I don’t think it is. [Deadline]
Next up is casting for an action/revenge film called Recoil. These two casting announcements couldn’t be more different, but how great would it be to combine them into one film? Anyway, more Recoil news after the break. Read More »
Ever since Call of Duty: World at War featured a bonus zombie-killing level, Activision and current CoD developers Treyarch have milked the fact that gamers seem to love the combination of warfare and zombies. The latest expansion to Call of Duty: Black Ops is titled Escalation, and it features a zombie level named Call of the Dead. A new trailer and press release for the game reveals that Call of the Dead stars, in voice and likeness, Robert Englund, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Michael Rooker and Danny Trejo as well as the godfather of film zombies as we know them: George Romero.
Check the trailer after the break. Read More »
