Danny McBride co-writing a new Halloween movie with Superbad director David Gordon Green sounds like a joke, but the Vice Principals star is taking this thing very seriously. In a new interview, McBride spoke about making the series scary again, getting Jamie Lee Curtis to return, and trying to honor a series beloved by so many. That last one is admittedly tricky when you’re literally ignoring every single movie in the franchise except the original, but hey, if there’s one horror series that needs emergency surgery to stay alive, it’s Halloween.

vice principals trailer

While the first season of Vice Principals was inspired by the films of John Hughes, season 2 of the HBO comedy is influenced by Brian de Palma. Jody Hill and Danny McBride‘s series is about to take a more sinister turn, as Mr. Gamby (McBride) takes matters into his own hands and looks for the person who shot him last season. One suspect is obvious, but season one of Vice Principals rarely went where we expected.

Vice Principals Season 2 Trailer

HBO’s Vice Principals is a brilliant comedy gem just waiting to be discovered by an audience that can appreciate it. Jody Hill and Danny McBride‘s evil, pitch-black and surprisingly soulful comedy series didn’t leave much of an impression on pop culture at large when it debuted last year and that’s a shame. This feels like the culmination of their work together, taking what they learned on The Foot-Fist Way and Eastbound & Down and polishing it to perfection.

For the already initiated, the first Vice Principals season 2 trailer is here. For everyone else (especially those with a taste for crude, unpleasant, and emotionally unsettling comedy): you have some homework to do.

Alien prologue

At the end of Prometheus, Elizabeth Shaw (Noomi Rapace) either makes a very brave or very foolish decision. After the doctor’s search for humanity’s creators goes horribly wrong, leaving most of the Prometheus crew dead, she continues to seek answers. Based on Shaw’s lack of presence in the promotional materials for Alien: Covenant, her minimal role in the film, and the fact she’s with David (Michael Fassbender), we’re presuming her post-Prometheus mission doesn’t go so well.

In a new Alien: Covenant prologue, titled “The Crossing,” you can see Elizabeth and David hitting it off on their journey.

Alien Covenant Promos

The crew aboard the Covenant are in for one rude awakening. They’re all hopeful for their colony expedition and ready to start new lives, but what they don’t see coming are Xenomorphs, chest bursters, and your friendly neighborhood homicidal droid, David (Michael Fassbender). Daniels (Katherine Waterson) and friends are mostly doomed, but they don’t know that yet in some new Alien: Covenant promos, which features the film’s heroine and Captain Oram (Billy Crudup) sending messages back home intercut with some found footage of everything going to hell.

Alien Covenant international poster

We’re only a month away from witnessing some nasty xenomorphs tear apart the crew of the colony ship known as the Covenant. A recent poster for Sir Ridley Scott‘s Alien: Covenant went heavy on religious subtext, while the new international poster highlights the film’s stars. It’s a less artful piece of marketing for the sequel, but at least it has Billy Crudup in full view.

Below, check out the Alien: Covenant international poster.

Alien Covenant Trailer Breakdown 53

Last year, I visited the set of Alien: Covenant. Today, I was able to publish my observations, and I wrote all about the film’s gore and monsters, its cast of characters, its sets and costumes, and its connections to Prometheus. And then, like clockwork, a new trailer arrived, and you know what means – it’s time to go through this whole thing frame-by-frame.
