'This Is The End Maze

At San Diego Comic Con International 2015, Guillermo del Toro announced that there would be a Crimson Peak maze for this year’s Halloween Horror Nights. It has since been revealed that Focus Features and Sony Pictures Home Entertainment are teaming with Universal Studios in both Hollywood and Orlando to create all-new mazes based on the Insidious film franchise, and Halloween will come home with the Halloween: Michael Myers Comes Home maze.

Universal Studios today announces something that sounds like it could be a bit more fun than those horrifying properties — a Halloween Horror Nights maze based on the film This Is The End which starred James Franco, Seth Rogen, Jonah Hill, Jay Baruchel, Danny McBride and Craig Robinson. The maze will be presented in hypnotic 3D, because why not?

The end of the world will begin as guests head to the ultimate A-list party at James Franco’s new Hollywood Hills home, before the Apocalypse strikes and they find themselves trapped in a life-and-death struggle against the demons of the underworld. With the fate of humanity at the crossroads of heaven and hell, “This is the End 3D” will offer defining moments for those guests brave enough to tempt the devil as their destiny hangs in the balance to be damned for eternity or raptured to heaven engulfed in a sea of blue light.

New Jody Hill Movie

Briefly: Director Jody Hill and actor Danny McBride made the bleak comedy The Foot Fist Way before collaborating on multiple seasons of HBO’s comedy series Eastbound and Down. (With a moment working together on Observe and Report in between.) Now there’s a new Jody Hill movie in the works, called The Legacy Of A Whitetail Deer Hunter, and McBride has a major role in its creation.

We don’t know anything about the story, but the script is by Hill, McBride, and John Carcieri. McBride will be one of the primary actors in the film, and Josh Brolin is cast as well. Seeing Brolin work with this team, especially after his kooky work in Inherent Vice, could be a joy, and we’re happy that McBride and Hill are doing a new film together in the wake of the conclusion of Eastbound and Down, which finished its HBO run in 2013.

In Dubious Battle film

The next directorial effort from James Franco will be an adaption of the John Steinbeck novel In Dubious Battle, and he has assembled a big-name cast: Selena Gomez, Vincent D’Onofrio, Robert Duvall, Ed Harris, Bryan Cranston and Danny McBride. The film will shoot in March, and we have a few more details on Franco’s In Dubious Battle film adaptation below. Read More »

James Franco in The Sound and the Fury

If the only thing you knew about The Sound and the Fury was its cast list, you might assume it was a comedy. After all, the last time James Franco, Seth Rogen, and Danny McBride were seen onscreen together, they were trading dick jokes while navigating the apocalypse; the time before that, they were ducking drug lords while stoned out of their minds.

But no — The Sound and the Fury is a deadly serious adaptation of the classic novel by William Faulkner, which Franco himself directed. Needless to say, it shines quite a different light on the normally hilarious trio. Hit the jump for your first look at the Sound and the Fury movie images.
