Things have gone a little bit Harry Potter crazy in the last few days, but that’s to be expected with the huge movie Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 coming out so soon. Well, the people at Hammer Films aren’t going to let the Potter wave go by without taking ride as they’ve revealed the first official photos of Potter-star Daniel Radcliffe in their upcoming period horror film The Woman in Black. Directed by James Watkins (Eden Lake) from an adapted screenplay by Jane Goldman (Kick-Ass, Stardust), it’s about a young lawyer (Radcliffe) who must uncover a small town mystery involving the title character. Ciaran Hinds and Janet McTeer co-star in the film based on the novel by Susan Hill. Ciaran Hinds and Italian actress-singer Violante Placido are in talks to join the cast of Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. Hinds has appeared in Munich, There Will Be Blood, Road to Perdition, Race to Witch Mountain and plays Aberforth Dumbledore in the upcoming Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows films. Placido is best known to US audiences as playing Clara in The American. According to Heat Vision, Hinds will play The Devil,who wants to take over “his mortal son’s body on the boy’s birthday.” Placido will play the boy’s mother.

Just about every development on Tomas Alfredson‘s film Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy seems to be a good one. The cast is a knockout (Gary Oldman, Colin Firth, Tom Hardy, Benedict Cumberbatch, Jared Harris and Ciaran Hinds) and now there’s another good name on board, as Mark Strong has signed to appear. Miramax Films has released the movie trailer for John Madden‘s The Debt, a remake of the 2007 Israeli film.
In 1965, three young Israeli Mossad agents on a secret mission capture and kill a notorious Nazi war criminal. Now, thirty years later, a man claiming to be the Nazi has surfaced in the Ukraine and one of the former agents must go back undercover to seek out the truth.

I’m not sure how Todd Solondz managed to shrink Tilda Swinton into the form of a young boy, but he appears to have done so; the figure graces the overseas poster, seen below, for his new film Life During Wartime. (It’s actually the young actor Dylan Riley Snyder. But still.)

Walt Disney Pictures has sent out a press release announcing to start of principal photography on Andrew Stanton‘s big screen adaptation of John Carter of Mars. The release has full details on the cast and crew, including a few new details which hadn’t yet been reported in the trades:
- New cast members include: Ciaran Hinds (“Munich,” “There Will Be Blood”) and Daryl Sabara (“Disney’s A Christmas Carol,” “Spy Kids”) takes the role of John Carter’s teen-aged nephew, Edgar Rice Burroughs (the author who created Tarzan and John Carter).
