With a cast decades ahead of its time, characters that are both funny and honest, and a story perfect enough to have universal appeal, Richard Linklater‘s Dazed and Confused is undoubtedly one of the best films of the Nineties.
2013 commemorates the 20th anniversary of the film. To celebrate, the state of Texas is honoring it, along with its writer/director, in a few ways. First up, Quentin Tarantino will attend the 13th Annual Texas Film Hall of Fame Awards and give the film a Star of Texas Award. Whether you’re afraid of heights or spilling your beverages, three posters for classic movies came out Friday. Spoke Art has two brand new prints for Sight and Sound’s greatest film of all time, Alfred Hitchcock‘s Vertigo, created by Chuck Sperry and Sam Smith, which is screening in 70mm in San Francisco this weekend. It hasn’t been the best week for Charles Foster Kane, as he lost the top spot on the Sight and Sound list of All-Time Best Films. But he’ll travel to San Francisco for screenings at the great Castro Theater. As a bonus, three artists have reinterpreted his film, the all-time great Citizen Kane, in poster form. It’s gonna be a great weekend at the movies.
