Sixteen years after they first got together in The Wedding Singer (yes, you’re that old), Adam Sandler, Drew Barrymore, and director Frank Coraci have reunited once more for Blended. This time, the two stars play single parents who have one awful blind date together… and then, through a series of only-in-the-movies contrivances, find themselves on an African safari together with their kids.
Basically, think The Brady Bunch by way of Happy Madison, with a big dollop of the “white people discovering themselves in brown places” travelogue a la Eat Pray Love. But does the old Sandler-Barrymore chemistry still hold up? Find out after the jump with a new Blended trailer.

First was The Wedding Singer, then 50 First Dates, now Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore team up once again for another Hollywood romantic comedy. This one is called Blended and it’s scheduled for release May 23. Directed by frequent Sandler collaborator Frank Coraci, Blended tells the story of two people who go on a terrible blind date, then find themselves on vacation together on African safari.

Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore are teaming up a third time in the film Blended, a romantic comedy to follow The Wedding Singer and Fifty First Dates. (No relation between the films.)
A couple months ago we heard that a reunion of the two might be Sandler’s next movie. Now the family romantic comedy — about an awkward couple that ends up on a family vacation together in Africa — appears to be going forward with a script from Ivan Menchell and Claire Sera, revisions from Sandler and Tim Herlihy, and The Waterboy and The Wedding Singer director Frank Coraci behind the camera. But the story specifics suggest something a bit different from what we’re likely to get from the movie.
