Blade Runner 2 is aiming to shoot this summer. Years ago the sequel didn’t sound like such a great idea, especially after some Alien fans felt burnt by Ridley Scott‘s return to the Alien universe, Prometheus. Not all fans, of course, but nobody should write off seeing the third collaboration between Villeneuve and cinematographer Roger Deakins, especially after Sicario.
Still, Scott remains heavily involved in the project, and once again, he’s teasing the sequel’s opening sequence.

Ridley Scott has been working on the script for Blade Runner 2 for a couple years. It’s a script Scott has said original Blade Runner star Harrison Ford called the best he’s ever had when Scott delivered it to him a while back. Speaking about the sequel, Scott insists that part of the story is Rick Deckard, Ford’s original character, owning up to the fact that he is a replicant. The movie also features Ryan Gosling, and Scott suggests that part of the plan now is to hand things off to Gosling for additional sequels. Read More »

Ridley Scott’s original Blade Runner is a film that’s revered for its look. However, cinematographer Jordan Cronenweth rarely gets the credit. Instead, it usually goes to his director, production designer, set designer and others. With director Denis Villeneuve‘s sequel now in the works, fans were certainly wondering if the look of the new film could live up to that universal praise. That answer is now, undoubtedly, yes.
The cinematographer for Villeneuve’s last two films, Roger Deakins, will be shooting Blade Runner 2 when the cameras role next year. Deakins shot Prisoners and the upcoming Sicario for the director, as well as Fargo, The Shawshank Redemption, The Big Lebowski, Skyfall and many others. He’s famously been nominated for 12 Cinematography Oscars without winning one. Read more about Roger Deakins Blade Runner 2 below. Read More »
