The jury is still out on whether or not a sequel to Blade Runner is a good idea in the first place, but I’ll say this much: director Denis Villeneuve has been assembling a cast that certainly makes it look like a good idea. The latest actor to join the increasingly large ensemble is British character actor Lennie James, best known to audiences for playing Morgan Jones on AMC’s The Walking Dead.

Next month, director Denis Villeneuve begins production on Blade Runner 2. The sequel, which stars Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling, has already attracted an exciting cast. The newest member of the Blade Runner 2 ensemble is Academy Award-nominated actor Barkhad Abdi, the co-star of Captain Phillips and this year’s Eye in the Sky.

The idea of a Blade Runner sequel is bound to make any fan feel nervous — and considering it’s one of the most revered sci-fi films of all time, that’s a lot of anxious fans. Earlier this week, Blade Runner 2 had its release date moved up from January 12th, 2018 to October 6th 2017, but that’s not the only good news today for anyone looking forward to director Denis Villeneuve‘s (Sicario) sequel.
