Even as I scramble to get in a few more 2014 releases before I close the book on this year, I’m looking forward to 2015. Next year promises to be huge for Hollywood, packed as it is with big-name sequels like Star Wars 7 and Avengers 2. But it also looks like a good time for movie lovers, not just movie studios. A lot of those tentpoles look genuinely good. And a lot of riskier ventures look like they’ll pay off. And that’s not even getting into all of the indie gems buried ahead, waiting for us to discover them at Sundance or Toronto or what have you.
Films from the last category were naturally left off my list, as I can’t get excited for a movie I haven’t heard of yet or know nothing about. But for a list of the films (big and small) that I do know about, and am eagerly looking forward to, join me after the jump. Read More »

Marvel has yet to reveal, or barely even acknowledge, the fact Paul Bettany plays Vision in Joss Whedon‘s Avengers: Age of Ultron. Unfortunately for them, as they try and hold back a big, official reveal, they can’t help that the character is all over promotion, marketing and licensing tools for the film. So we’ve already seen a lot of what Bettany’s character will look like in the movie. Now, we’ve got even more images. Here’s another blast of info from Avengers: Age of Ultron, but unlike the set of images we gave you earlier today, this is something more specifically detailed. In what appears to be either packaging copy for toy releases or leaked website screenshots, the Ultron origin is revealed as it will be detailed in the film, and Vision’s origin is also explained. Can you believe we’re only four months away from Avengers: Age of Ultron? The film opens on May 1 in the US, which is so close I can almost taste it. Soon we’ll see new trailers, posters, images and more. It’s pretty exciting.
We’re also going to see a lot of merchandise from the film and images to promote that merchandise. Case in point, a few new promotional images that came online this week. These artistic representation of the movie show Ultron in various different poses, the big Hulk vs. Iron Man Hulkbuster armor fight we’ve all been waiting for, and Thor standing on a mountain of destruction. In all the excitement over the past few weeks, be it Star Wars trailers, Jurassic World trailers, the holidays or major studio leaks, it’s almost hard to believe 2015 is nearly upon us. It should be an excellent year filled with blockbusters the likes of which we have never seen.
