Scott Pilgrim

Universal Pictures has released the first full-length movie trailer for Edgar Wright‘s upcoming action-comedy Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. Based on the comic book series written by Bryan Lee O’Malley, Pilgrim tells the story of a charming and jobless 22-year-old who must defeat his new girlfriend’s seven evil ex-boyfriends in order to win her heart. The new trailer will be attached to Get Him To The Greek, but has been put online once the Scott Pilgrim facebook page reached 100,000 fans (which happened at 1:30am on Monday morning).

The new trailer is pretty awesome, and has me even more excited about the film than the initial teaser. The only thing I didn’t like was the lame “it’s on like Donkey Kong” tagline which I’m sure was the “genius” idea of the Universal’s marketing team. Watch the trailer now embedded after the jump. Scott Pilgrim vs. The World

How awesome was the teaser trailer for Edgar Wright‘s Scott Pilgrim vs. The World? I know I’ve watched it at least six times now. I’m surprised at how many cool visuals Edgar and Universal were able to cram into under 90 seconds. There is certainly a lot of cool visuals which are worth pressing the pause button to examine at length. Check out all 66 screencaps, after the jump. Jack And Diane

We’ve been covering the development of Jack & Diane for over four years now. This predates the whole Twilight craze, and predates the breakout success of Juno. Bradley Rust Gray’s film is about two teenage lesbians, originally set to be played by Ellen Page and Olivia Thirlby.

Once upon a time, the reunion of Juno playpals Ellen Page and Olivia Thirlby was set to be the werewolf romance Jack & Diane. Unfortunately, the filmmakers had difficulty getting the film going and, the last we heard about it, the project was delayed. At that point, Page said:

It’s a drag that we, as of yet, haven’t filmed it. But it will happen.

And indeed, it appears that it will – though, and rather sadly perhaps, without Ms. Page. According to the film’s official website (found via After Ellen), the project is still “in development”, though now Ellen is out, and Alison Pill is in, while Olivia Thirlby’s involvement remains unchanged. Further corroborating this report, Paste also filed on the film today:

[Director Bradley Rust] Gray is busy on Jack and Diane, a picture about two teenage girls who fall in love (expressed partially through a monstrous creature, earning it the early tag “the lesbian werewolf movie”). The film will have a special-effects budget and animation, a first for Gray. “It’s going to be gross and scary,” he says.

aubrey plaza in scott pilgrim vs. the world

You might not know who Aubrey Plaza is right now, but you will soon enough. The Upright Citizen’s Brigade comic was featured in the Sundance comedy hit Mystery Team and has co-starring roles in Judd Apatow’s Funny People and Edgar Wright‘s Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. Speaking of which, it has been quite a while since we last posted an update on the comic book adaptation. Today, Wright posted the first photo of Plaza (seen above), who plays Julie Powers, the obnoxious on-off-on-again girlfriend of Stephen Stills, the lead singer and guitarist of Scott’s band, Sex Bob-omb, and Stacey Pilgrim’s (Anna Kendrick) coffee shop co-worker. And guess what? You can see the first photo of the band rehearsing after the jump, as well as a photo from and their rivals — The Clash At Demonhead.
