Fox brought the new Hitman movie, Hitman: Agent 47, to Comic Con today via an understated panel that featured actors Zachary Quinto and Hannah Ware. Rupert Friend, who plays the title character, an assassin introduced in the video game series from Eidos and Square Enix, was unable to attend Comic Con thanks to the shooting schedule for his primary gig, Homeland. Friend offered up a brief intro to the panel via a video message, and the panelists premiered a trailer that showed this new cinematic adaptation of the Hitman games. Before his death, Paul Walker was planning on going from Fast and Furious 7 to Agent 47. That film, originally thought to be a reboot of the video game adaptation Hitman, is in fact a sequel. Sequel or reboot though, Walker’s death left commercial director Aleksander Bach without a star.
Enter Rupert Friend, who has been seen on the last two seasons of Homeland as CIA Agent Peter Quinn. He’s now signed to replace Walker in the title role of a bald, elite assassin. Read More »
Here’s a bit of a shocker in the world of video game adaptations. Fox International is going to reboot the Square Enix video game series Hitman as a new movie called Agent 47. Paul Walker will star as the bald assassin of the title, a character last seen in the 2007 film Hitman directed by Xavier Gens with Timothy Olyphant in the lead role.
Agent 47 will be written by Mike Finch and Skip Woods and directed by Aleksander Bach, a commercial director making his feature debut. Oddly enough, Woods also wrote the first movie for Gens and Olyphant. There’s more below. Read More »
