Is This The Origin of The Knights of Ren?

Knights of Ren Origins

Here at /Film, most of us are more than casual fans of Star Wars. In addition to watching the movies, we try to absorb anything and everything regarding the Star Wars universe, and that includes the trilogy of books that began just before The Force Awakens was released in 2015. Chuck Wendig began the book series with Aftermath, continued with Aftermath: Life Debt and concluded with Aftermath: Empire’s End, which just hit shelves a few days ago.

Even though Aftermath: Empire’s End has only been on shelves for a few days, many fans have already devoured it, and they’ve found some interesting tidbits in addition to the main plot, which fills in the gaps between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens (including details on what characters like Lando Calrissian and Jar Jar Binks have been up to). Throughout the books, many believe there are hints as to the origins of the Knights of Ren, the dark side organization mentioned by Supreme Leader Snoke in The Force Awakens. Find out what new details Aftermath: Empire’s End offers on that front after the jump. Read More »

obi-wan

Obi-Wan Kenobi might be one of the most prominent and most popular characters in the Star Wars original trilogy, but I’ve long harbored a grudge against him for lying to Luke about his parentage. No, that’s not entirely accurate — it’s not the lying I despise so much as his nonsense excuse when Luke calls him out on it, which is “What I told you was true… from a certain point of view.” I don’t know about you guys on Tatooine, Obi-Wan, but here on Earth that’s still called lying.

Such dishonesty hardly seems like appropriate behavior for a Jedi knight, and I’m not the only fan to have noticed. Fortunately for Obi-Wan, though, the Star Wars canon is huge and expanding every day, and that means there’s room to retcon his “certain point of view” bullcrap so it’s no longer “fake news” or an “alternative fact,” but actually a religious reference. Han and Leia Break Up

Next week brings the arrival of Aftermath: Empire’s End, the third book in a new trilogy of Star Wars stories that help fill in the gap between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens. The book series has done a fine job of giving us some details about what happened between the end of the last Star Wars trilogy and the beginning of a new one, introducing us to new characters while also revealing what characters like Han Solo, Leia Organa, and Chewbacca have been up to, and the latest book is no exception.

Aftermath: Empire’s End has already revealed an excerpt that taps us into what happened to Lando Calrissian after Return of the Jedi, and now more information about what Han Solo and Leia Organa have been up to will be featured in the book as well. In fact, the book shows us what may have led to the Han and Leia break up, despite having a child between them. Read More »
