Earlier this month it was reported that Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor (the Academy Award-winning composer of The Social Network) would be composing the score for Timur Bekmambetov‘s adaptation of the Seth Grahame-Smith novel Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, and would also appear on screen in the movie as the vampire who kills Lincoln’s mother. A couple days later, Reznor responded to the rumors and confirmed that he was in fact in talks to score the film, but his role in the movie was not much more than a surprise cameo (ruined by the internet). Well it looks like that won’t even be happening anymore.

Seems like Timur Bekmambetov has just about filled all of his leads for Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. Earlier this week, just a short time after hearing that Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Robin McLeavy were the frontrunners for the role of Mary Todd in Timur Bekmambetov‘s Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, we reported that Ms. McLeavy had been given the role. Turns out that was wrong.
In fact, Mary Elizabeth Winstead has been given the role, so she’ll stand tall next to Benjamin Walker against the hordes of the undead in early America. Read More »
If you didn’t see Monsters or In Search of a Midnight Kiss (or aren’t a dedicated fan of Bones) your first thought here might be ‘who the hell is Scoot McNairy?’ The male lead from Gareth Edwards’ low-budgets sleeper Monsters has got great people working on his side, because despite not having the most head-turning performance in that film he has become a hot commodity after years of playing sideline roles.
The first evidence of that status is grabbing a big role in Andrew Dominik‘s Cogan’s Trade. He also has a couple other possible big jobs brewing. And, good news for fans of the film Animal Kingdom: Ben Mendelsohn is also in Cogan’s Trade. Read More »

When it comes the film adaptation of the Seth Grahame-Smith’s novel Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, director Timur Bekmambetov is trying to make stars instead of cast them. The director of Wanted and Night Watch nabbed Benjamin Walker for the lead role, best known for small parts in Kinsey and Flags of our Fathers. Anthony Mackie and Dominic Cooper, both recognizable but not huge, were cast as Lincoln’s closest confidants and now Bekmambetov has cast unknown Australian actress Robin McLeavy as Mary Todd, the love interest and eventual wife of the 16th President of the United States of America. This will be her first American film. Read More »
The next two actors has been added to one of our most anticipated movies currently in pre-production that’s not based on a comic book character. Anthony Mackie, star of The Hurt Locker, 8 Mile and the upcoming The Adjustment Bureau, and Dominic Cooper, star of Captain America: The First Avenger, An Education and Mamma Mia have signed on to co-star in Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, directed by Timur Bekmambetov, produced by Tim Burton and starting Benjamin Walker as Lincoln. Mackie will play a character named Will, who is most likely William Seward, Lincoln’s best friend in the book and a fellow vampire hunter. In real life, Seward was Lincoln’s Secretary of State and white but Mackie will surely be a bit more of a bad ass. Cooper is playing Henry Sturges, a fictional character who serves as Lincoln’s vampire-killing mentor. Read more after the jump. Read More »
