Superhero Bits: First Look At Curt Connors, Plus Pepper Potts, Wonder Woman, The Avengers

[No photo]

We've already seen photos of Andrew Garfield as both Peter Parker and Spider-Man and Emma Stone as love interest Gwen Stacy in

Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man. Today we have the first looks at Rhys Ifans as Dr. Curt Connors a.k.a. The Lizard, and Martin Sheen as Uncle Ben.

The first photo, snapped by college student J. Anthony Hall, shows Ifans and Garfield filming an outdoor scene. Not much is actually happening in the still, but it's worth noting that Ifans is clearly wearing a bright green sock or covering over his right hand — presumably so it can be made to look missing or changed in post-production. (In the comics, Connors was a war surgeon who lost his arm in a blast. Upon returning to civilian life, he developed a serum from reptilian DNA and regenerated his arm. Then he became a full-on reptilian monster. Oops.)

The other images, from the Daily Mail, feature Sheen and Garfield standing outside in sunglasses. I'd guess that they aren't in character in these pictures, but I can't be sure. Scroll past the jump to see the full images. [Coming Soon via Obsessed with Film]

Also after the jump: possible bad news for Wonder Woman fans, possible good news for Pepper Potts fans, and an image from The Avengers set, and details on The Avengers' budget and locations.

No reason has been given for the possible change, but it may have to do with the fact that despite even its original premiere date being months away, the series has already received a fair amount of bad press. The original script has been passed around and widely derided, and producers have had to adjust Palicki's costume after fans reacted with overwhelming criticism to the first version. I'd be happy to wait a few extra months to see the premiere if it meant we'd be getting a higher-quality product worthy of Wonder Woman's name and Palicki's time, but I wouldn't count on it. Late last year, Gwyneth Paltrow told Collider that her Iron Man character, Pepper Potts, would not be making an appearance in Iron Man 3. At the time, her words were: "No. No Pepper... I think it's a for sure. I think they're starting shooting soon and they probably would have asked me by now." Over this past weekend, however, Paltrow told a different story. In an appearance on BBC2's Something for the Weekend, Paltrow revealed: "I'll probably be in Iron Man 3, I'll possibly be very briefly in The Avengers... maybe... we'll see."

This isn't terribly surprising, and it sounds like even if Paltrow does appear in both films, it probably won't amount to much more than a cameo. Still, I've enjoyed Pepper in the first two Iron Man movies, and I'd be happy to see her resurface.

Oh, and if any of you guys still reading are also Glee fans, Paltrow hinted in the same interview that she might be making appearances on the Glee Live Tour at some point in the future. [Obsessed with Film via Comic Book Movie]

Finally, a couple tidbits of news about Joss Whedon's The Avengers. First, we have two new images from a set in Albuquerque, NM. Albuquerque appears to be standing in for a different, desert-like country here — India, I'm guessing, since the signs appear to be in Hindi. (Please correct me if I'm wrong.) Scroll down to see the photos.

Second, some quick info on budget and location: Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky Film Commission executive director Kristen Erwin has revealed that The Avengers will have a budget of around $170 million, with about $30 million of it going to Ohio. Erwin went on to say that the film would be shooting in Ohio for about two weeks, at an undisclosed location within 30 miles of Cincinnati. Shooting is also slated to take place in Cleveland.
