'Star Wars: The Last Jedi' Teaser Gets The 8-Bit Trailer Treatment

Last month Star Wars fans were rocked with the arrival of the first trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi. It was the first real footage from the movie we'd seen, and now we're left wondering when we'll see the next trailer for the movie (our gut tells us around the time D23 or San Diego Comic-Con is happening in July, but we can't be sure). In the meantime, why not enjoy the first trailer that you've watched dozens of times by now, but in a whole new way: in the form of an 8-bit video game trailer.

Before anyone gets bent out of shape, this isn't technically an 8-bit trailer. This is actually a 16-bit trailer for the kind of game you'd play on your Super Nintendo. And, it even got the seal of approval from director Rian Johnson:

This actually makes me wish that there were 16-bit versions of the new Star Wars movies to go along with video games from the 1990s like Super Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back and Super Star Wars: Return of the Jedi (the former of which is available from the PlayStation Store right now).

Actually, it makes me wish all of the Star Wars video games from years past were easily available to download. I'd love to play some Star Wars: Masters of Teras Kasi or Jedi Power Battles from the original PlayStation or even Republic Commando from the generation of consoles that followed.
