New Image From 'Star Wars Episode VII' Set Features Humans, A Droid, And Ship

An unexpected photo from inside Pinewood Studios emerged late Tuesday. That's where J.J. Abrams is filming Star Wars Episode VII and the United Kingdom's Chancellor of the Exchequer, George Osborne, paid a visit to announce the next spin-off film will be shooting there. Granted, we knew this because Lucasfilm/Disney had locked up Pinewood for multiple years, but no matter.

The coolest bit is, while on set, Osborne was allowed to tweet a photo featuring himself, Abrams, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy, R2-D2, and a strategically placed Falcon in the background.  Check it out below.

Here's the image.

And the Tweet.

Osborne also tweeted this which, again, we'd known:

This is referring to Gareth Edwards' 2016 spin-off but let's get this out of the way. Episode VIII, Trank's spinoff, Episode IX, they're all going to be shooting stage stuff at Pinewood.

The one interesting thing I take out of this photo is the potentially incomplete Millennium Falcon in the background. This is decidedly less complete than the images TMZ leaked as well as the set Abrams' tweeted the Holochess image from. Logically, they're either breaking down this set or they must have numerous different Falcon sets. If that's the case, with the green screen on the floor outside this one, I bet this is the set where Abrams will film iconic Star Wars shots such as this:

So that's the latest on Star Wars Episode VII. Filming is well-under way and, of course, we'll have more soon.

UPDATE: Many fans have commented that the above photo could also be a Tie Fighter, which has a similar looking window. That's very true. But, would J.J. Abrams really let that bit of news slip out like this? Maybe. Anything is possible.
