First announced in June, Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes has just unleashed its first trailer. The EA mobile game invites players to collect iconic Star Wars characters and form teams to fight battles in familiar locations across the galaxy. EA unleashed the Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes game on YouTube.
So if every Star Wars movie, book, comic, and video game is supposed to be canon from here on out, how does Galaxy of Heroes fit in? Simple: Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes is presented as “hologames in a cantina far, far away.” In other words (as THR points out) the game itself exists in the canon. Clever.
Galaxy of Heroes brings together Star Wars characters and backdrops from all different parts of the franchise, including the original trilogy, the prequel trilogy, Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels. Locations include Hoth, Tatooine, Coruscant, and Bespin. We can probably expect future films like The Force Awakens and Rogue One to be included down the line, too.
Players can build light and dark side teams, strategizing based on each character’s individual attacks and abilities, and enhance their powers with special gear. As the game goes on, you’ll be able to unlock special characters, skills, and moves (such as “Darth Sidious’s Force Lightning” and “Chewbacca’s Wookiee Rage”).
In their original statement announcing Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes, EA explained the appeal of the game:
When we set out to make STAR WARS: GALAXY OF HEROES, we wanted to tap into the fantasy of collecting characters and starfighters and then let people enjoy the fun of playing with them creatively. We’re bringing this idea to life by allowing players to take part in battles with collections of their favorite heroes, characters, and ships from across the Star Wars™ universe.
Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes will be available on iOS and Android this holiday season, just in time for the Star Wars: The Force Awakens release on December 18.Cool Posts From Around the Web:
