Star Wars Episode VII has received two custom made Panavision cameras nicknamed “Death Star” and “Millennium Falcon.” Below, check those out as well as these additional Star Wars Bits:
- Peter Mayhew drops of out convention appearance during Star Wars Episode VII filming.
- Lost and Lord of the Rings alum Dominic Monaghan spoke to J.J. Abrams about Star Wars.
- Meet Jedi Mickey Mouse during Star Wars Weekends at Walt Disney World.
- Billy Dee Williams dances with Chewbacca on The Tonight Show.
- Has J.J. Abrams officially made the move to London?
Camera man Andrew Bikichky tweeted the two below photos of the custom made A and B cameras that will be filming Star Wars Episode VII in the coming months. The A camera, nicknamed “Death Star” is a “custom blacked-out Panaflex XL.” The B camera is nicknamed “Millennium Falcon.” Check out the photos below.
This is an interesting piece of speculation. Recently, Texas convention Comicpalooza tweeted that Peter Mayhew, the actor who famously played Chewbacca, was “canceling his appearance…due to filming.” The convention takes place May 23-26. Filming something in May? Peter Mayhew? Maybe it means he’ll be back for Star Wars Episode VII. Thanks to Nerd Bastards for the heads up.
Dominic Monaghan worked with J.J. Abrams on Lost. He was also in another massive trilogy, The Lord of the Rings, so he knows a thing or two about franchises. In an interview with the DweebCast (via Variety) the actor said, of course he’d love to be in Star Wars, but, more interestingly, he’s actually talked to Abrams about it. Here are his quotes:
We’ve talked a few times about [a potential role]. [Abrams] said ‘We’re putting together a cast of unknowns. We want to follow the ’77 New Hope cast because obviously Harrison Ford wasn’t well known at that point, Mark Hamill wasn’t and Carrie Fisher wasn’t either. What he said was, ‘We don’t want to fall into that mistake of people going, ‘Oh, it’s that guy from that thing!’ and then you’re completely out of the Star Wars universe.’
Even if you can’t make it to Walt Disney World for one of the Star Wars Weekends in the coming summer, if you go during the week now too, Disney is offering opportunities to eat and take photos with a Jedi Mickey Mouse and more. Read about the dining experiences here.
Billy Dee Williams, unfortunately, had to drop out of Dancing With the Stars and that did not make Jimmy Fallon happy. As a consolation, the Tonight Show host invited Lando onto the show for one last dance featuring everyone’s favorite wookie.
And finally, this tweet might send chills up and down your spine. Whether or not it’s true, it’s exciting to think it’s coming.
A friend was at Pinewood yesterday. SW production has moved in. JJ Abrams is there. All LFL windows have been covered with reflective glass.
