Fresh off his critically acclaimed zombie flick [Rec] and the somewhat less beloved [Rec] 2, Jaume Balaguero has directed Sleep Tight (or Mientras Duermes in Spanish), a horror film about a sinister doorman who knows everything about his residents and does everything in his power to make them miserable. Watch the trailer after the jump.
For once, I’m glad I can’t afford to live in a doorman building.
Judging by the trailer, Sleep Tight looks less scary than chilling. The terror here seems to come less from nasty twists or graphic gore (though I’m sure there’ll be some of that, too) than from the film’s creepy main character and its dark, disturbing vibe. Sleep Tight seems in some ways like it could be a good complement to the upcoming Sleeping Beauty — they’re different genres, but they share an attractive moodiness, and both are about terrible things that happen while you’re asleep.
Sleep Tight stars Luis Tosar, Marta Etura and Alberto San Juan. No U.S. release date has been announced at this point.
