Ryan Murphy has just confirmed what American Horror Story viewers have long suspected: All of the seasons are connected. How exactly they’re connected remains unclear for now, but if you’re the kind of person that pores over fan theories about your favorite TV shows, Murphy admits you may have already guessed.
Hit the jump for more on the American Horror Story connections.
Murphy teased the American Horror Story connections in an interview with EW.
This is the first year where we begin to tell you that season two is connected to season four which is connected to season one. People have started to write articles about that. A lot of their hypotheses have been completely right on. That’s the fun of the show. Hopefully by the end of the run, be it 10 years or 15 years, people will be able to stand back and be able to say, “Oh that was connected to x.
They’re all connected. We’re just beginning to tell you how they’re connected. They’re all very separate but there’s clues every season that we’re now telling you how the different worlds are intertwined.
Part of the fun of the show is the Rubik’s cube design of it, but, yes, there are purposeful connections, character connections, and similarities and things that connect that we’ll continue to connect moving forward.
Murphy’s comments aren’t entirely surprising. Though FX’s American Horror Story is billed as a series that reboots itself each season, the appearance of Asylum‘s Pepper (Naomi Grossman) in the current season, Freak Show, was our first clue that all the seasons might share a unified mythology. Last week’s reveal that Lily Rabe would reprise her role as Sister Mary Eunice all but confirmed that Asylum and Freak Show, at least, belonged to the same universe.
The interconnectivity will continue into next season, as Murphy confirms the top hat coffee cups seen in Freak Show are “a big season five clue.” Leave your guesses as to what that might mean in the comments.Cool Posts From Around the Web:
