Roger Corman Fantastic Four trailer

In just under a couple weeks, audiences will get to feast their eyes on the latest iteration of Marvel’s first family in 20th Century Fox’s reboot of Fantastic Four from director Josh Trank. We’re not sure if fans will turn out the way they have for Marvel Studios films, but with the hope of a crossover with X-Men on the horizon, maybe interest will be piqued.

In the meantime, you should check out this great trailer remix featuring the ominous voiceover from the Fantastic Four teaser trailer combined with footage from Roger Corman‘s infamous, ridiculous 1994 adaptation of the comic book property. Watch the Roger Corman Fantastic Four trailer remix after the jump!

Thanks to GeekTyrant for bring this video to our attention:

New York Magazine is behind this very well done trailer remix, complete with VHS tracking issues and low quality. The voiceover almost makes you forget that the footage is so damn silly, but once you get to The Thing and the terrible visual effects, you feel like you’re watching an episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000.

If this is the first time you’re hearing of the Roger Corman-produced Fantastic Four adaptation, then you might want to do some research into the disastrous production. In fact, back in 2014, we featured the trailer for a documentary called Doomed! The Untold Story of Roger Corman’s ‘The Fantastic Four’, which takes in in-depth look at the making of the film and what went wrong.

Hopefully Josh Trank’s Fantastic Four won’t be a mess of this scale, even if the trailers feel a little too generic for it to stand out amongst the rest of the comic book fare that Marvel Studios has already delivered. It would be nice to have Fantastic Four done right, but we’ll have to wait until August 7th to see how it turns out.
