‘Point Break’ Remake Casts Its New Keanu Reeves

Luke Bracey

Briefly: Yes, that Point Break remake is actually moving forward. Ericson Core (Invincible) is directing the film, which currently has Gerard Butler attached as bank robbing surfer Bodhi, a role originally played by Patrick Swayze.

Bodhi’s nemesis/partner Johnny Utah, a role originated by Keanu Reeves, will now be played by relative newcomer Luke Bracey. Bracey played the masked role of Cobra Commander in last year’s G.I. Joe Retaliation. The film will retain the same basic premise as the 1991 Kathryn Bigelow original, but except just surfing, it’s set in the world of extreme sports. [Variety]
