The news that Batman would appear opposite Superman in Zack Snyder‘s follow up to Man of Steel shook the movie community to its core Saturday morning. If you don’t believe me, listen to the reaction here. Now that we know the movie is happening, the more specific questions can begin, such as casting and the title.
Speaking on a Superman anniversary panel the film’s writer, David Goyer, said he believes the film will not be called Man of Steel 2, or Batman and Superman, and certainly not The Dark Knight Returns (pictured above in animated form).
Goyer said the film will either be Batman vs. Superman or Superman vs. Batman.
Here’s what Goyer said, according to ComicBook.com:
So over in Hall H at the Warner Bros., I guess most people know now, at the end of the Warner Bros. panel Zack came out and he brought Harry Lennix, who plays General Swanwick in Man of Steel and we –- actually, Harry read a bit from [The Dark Knight Returns] and so the next film we’re making, we’re already in pre-production, comes out in summer of 2015. We’re actually not sure whether the title is Superman vs. Batman or Batman vs. Superman but yes, it’s –- that rematch, that combination, the two guys onscreen and that’s happening.
So which will it be? One sure fire way to find out is look at which websites Warner Bros. may, or may not own. It seems they own both SupermanVsBatman.com and BatmanVsSuperman.com as well as BatmanVsSupermanMovie.com. They don’t, however, own SupermanVsBatmanMovie.com. That makes it seem pretty likely that the title of the Man of Steel sequel will be Batman vs. Superman.
Expect much more info on this soon.
Batman vs. Superman (or whatever the film is eventually called) will be written by David Goyer, directed by Zack Snyder and star Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane. Batman has yet to be cast and it’s likely aimed at a Summer 2015 release.Cool Posts From Around the Web:
