Fantastic Four tv spot

It seems like just yesterday the narrative around Fantastic Four was how bad the marketing was. Mainly, that’s because it was non-existent for so long. Since the release of the first trailer though, that’s been rapidly and happily changing. As effects shots get completed and more and more is revealed, you can feel everyone getting cautiously optimistic about what Josh Trank has done here. It’s going to take some people actually seeing the movie to finally make everyone super excited but, until then, the tables are turning.

Case in point, a brand new TV spot that debuted during the NBA Finals. It’s a lot of the same footage we’ve already seen, but there’s new stuff and – most importantly – there’s humor in here. Below, check out the new Fantastic Four TV spot.

Here’s the video from Fox

Fantastic Four TV Spot

From everything we’ve heard about Fantastic Four, the film is a mostly serious take on the material. Which is totally the right way to go. These are famous, deep, exciting characters and they deserve to be treated with respect. Plus, if you hope to see them in other movies, audiences are going to have to believe and care for them. That all points to “Serious.”

But serious movies are at their best when they can pepper in some personality. Especially with these characters and actors who, while set in a serious world and situation, are so dynamic. Johnny and Sue Storm, Ben Grimm, Reed Richards, they’ve always been smart but also witty. That’s what this TV spot is showing from the movie, so you hope it carries over.

Fantastic Four, directed by Josh Trank, opens August 7. It stars Miles Teller, Michael B. Jordan, Kate Mara, Jamie Bell and Toby Kebbell:

FANTASTIC FOUR, a contemporary re-imagining of Marvel’s original and longest-running superhero team, centers on four young outsiders who teleport to an alternate and dangerous universe, which alters their physical form in shocking ways. Their lives irrevocably upended, the team must learn to harness their daunting new abilities and work together to save Earth from a former friend turned enemy.
