We’ve already seen Mad Max: Fury Road get a Mario Kart overhaul, and now the Honest Trailer for the blockbuster from the director of Happy Feet and Babe: Pig in the City dives into what they describe as a two-hour, hellish version of the Nintendo racing game.
The good news is that this Honest Trailer doesn’t really do much to criticize what is one of the best action blockbusters we’ve ever seen, but rather just pokes fun at certain elements, like Tom Hardy‘s endless array of grunts. Watch the Mad Max Fury Road Honest Trailer below!
Most of the jokes made at the movie’s expense are because of how simply the premise is, but honestly, it’s the simple nature of the plot that actually makes Mad Max: Fury Road work so well. It’s not overly complex for no good reason, and it doesn’t shove backstory or universe building in your face. And it works masterfully.
However, I will admit that the idea of there being so little gas in the world does make it a little impractical for everyone to drive huge gas guzzling monster trucks. But when you have to trek across the desert, you’re not going to be driving a Prius through the Wasteland.
Otherwise, this particular Honest Trailer recognizes the movie for its greatness, from the spectacular practical action to the gorgeous cinematography, saying that it makes every other summer franchise look tame by comparison. All this Honest Trailer makes me want to do is watch Mad Max: Fury Road again as soon as possible. And then after I watch it for a fourth time, I’ll probably watch again the next day. Seriously, I love this movie that much.
And if you need anymore convincing that this is the must-see movie of the summer, which you can bring home on September 1st, don’t forget that it made our list of the Top 10 Films of 2015 so far, and it’s going to take a lot to knock it off the top spot on my own list.
