Guardians of the Galaxy 2 story

James Gunn has been very honest that he’s going to be adding characters to Guardians of the Galaxy 2. That’s what happens in a sequel. The universe gets expanded, flipped on its head, some characters die, others go away, anything is possible. The bigger question is who, or in the Guardians galaxy “what,” is going to be added to the sequel? Since the movie is over two years away, we won’t get that full reveal for a while but the writer and director dropped a cryptic hint about a new addition on Twitter.

Below, read James Gunn’s cryptic tease about a new Guardians of the Galaxy character and our thoughts on who it may be. Read More »

sharknado 3 president

Syfy has announced some new casting for Sharknado 3. It seems like this mockbuster franchise is increasingly being stuffed with celebrity cameos, some of which make little to no sense. (Much like the plot of these films, I’m sure some would say.) The latest casting includes Mark Cuban as the president of the United States of America. I’m a fan of Cuban’s and have been following him online for many years, and the reality television series Shark Tank has certainly brought him into the mainstream. The choice of right wing political commentator Ann Coulter to play the Vice President, however, seems like a move made to stir controversy. Jared Leto Joker

In 2014, Jared Leto won an Oscar for his performance in Dallas Buyers Club. In 2015, that meant two things. He could do any role he wanted and he had to appear at awards shows to present. We know the role he chose, Joker in David Ayer‘s Suicide Squad, and we all saw the actor at the Oscars, sporting long, flowing locks and full beard. He looked decidedly un-like the Joker.

Well, the first step in Jared Leto’s physical transformation into the Clown Prince of Gotham City has begun. Plus Ayer described the character using one kind of surprising word. Below, check out the Jared Leto Joker preparation. Read More »

Laurent Durieux Godfather II header

As a film fan, one of the eternal debates is The Godfather vs. The Godfather Part II. Both films won Best Picture and both films are all time classics. No one is disputing that. But forced to choose one, do you choose the rise of Michael Corleone as his father, Don Vito Corleone, passes on? Or do you choose the epic dual story of the Corleone family’s beginning, with Vito’s rise to power, alongside its expansion, as Michael broadens and splits the family? It’s a Catch 22, Sophie’s Choice if ever there was one and a debate that’s sure to go on forever.

On the poster side, though, this debate has been closed.

Last year, Odd City Entertainment debuted their official Godfather license with a beautiful piece by Laurent Durieux. Today, they’ve revealed part two of the poster trilogy, also by Durieux. And no knock on the artist himself, but his version of The Godfather Part II blows the original away. See the full Laurent Durieux Godfather Part II poster, and get all the details, below. Age of Ultron character posters

The first official Avengers: Age of Ultron poster was a big mess of characters and details, but the character posters are a lot more clean. It helps that the posters only have to focus on one character each — the latest features Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye.

(These originally looked like they could be something along the lines of the concept art drop from Comic Con last summer, which assembled into one large image. But they clearly don’t fit together as currently released, despite having a common background theme.)

We’ll continue to post the Age of Ultron character posters as they arrive. For now, see all of the released Avengers: Age of Ultron character posters below.

Citizenfour streaming

Laura PoitrasCitizenfour earned near unanimous praise when it opened, and even won the Best Documentary Feature Award at this year’s Oscars. Beyond that, it’s also been deemed capital-I important thanks to its by-the-moment coverage of Edward Snowden’s massive NSA leak. It’s the kind of movie that has critics and pundits imploring “everyone” to watch it.

But if you haven’t gotten there quite yet, fear not. Citizenfour is now easier to watch than ever because it’s streaming for free, in full, online. Get details and watch the movie after the jump.

On paper, Chris Weitz might seem like an unlikely choice to write a Star Wars movie. As a director, he’s best at realistic fare like About A Boy and A Better Life. He’s done bigger fantasy too, like The Golden Compass and The Twilight Saga: New Moon, but those are based on books. Even his latest film, Cinderella, is based on a very well known story and uses magic as sparsely as possible. Star Wars is a whole other beast, especially since he’s writing a standalone movie that could literally be about anything.

We were given the chance to speak to Weitz on the occasion of the release of Cinderella and, of course, had to bring up a galaxy far, far away. To recap, he was brought on to rewrite the first standalone movie, which comes out in December 2016 and will be directed by Gareth Edwards. Weitz, speaking to the press for the first time since the announcement, told us about his excitement going after the project, the security behind the process, how he’s using the film’s first screenplay by Gary Whitta, if he’s read the online rumors about the project and, finally, what fans should expect from the movie. Below, read our Chris Weitz Star Wars quotes. Read More »
