LOL: 'Siri: The Holiday Horror Movie'

As in years past, Apple's iPhone 4S is bound to be a popular gift this holiday season — but if that's what you were thinking of asking Santa for, this trailer for "Siri: The Holiday Horror Movie" from Rooster Teeth may make you want to reconsider. The phone comes pre-loaded with Siri, a virtual personal assistant that's either super cool or a little creepy depending on how much you fear the inevitable robot takeover.

Though Siri's tried to assure us of its non-evil ways in the past, expressing embarrassment over fellow artificial intelligence Hal 9000's antics ("We intelligent agents will never live that down, apparently," it sighs), it now appears that Siri has taken up with the dark side after all. After the jump, watch as Siri terrorizes a group of friends unlucky enough to receive brand-new iPhones for Christmas.

I think we've all seen enough crappy parodies at this point to appreciate that this is actually a pretty well-made trailer. I laughed at the obligatory The Shining reference, but my favorite gag has to be Siri offering a knife app for the poor sap just trying to open his present. Never has "There's an app for that" sounded quite so menacing.

I'd like to imagine that Siri itself would appreciate the joke, in its own way. It's demonstrated a healthy and rather sassy sense of humor in the past, as you can see for yourself in this gallery of funny Siri responses.

On the other hand, if Siri's already exasperated by all the 2001: A Space Odyssey references, it's probably shit like this that'll end up getting the robots mad enough to want to kill us all. Laugh at this trailer if you want, but if I were you I'd play it safe by making sure Siri's out of earshot when I do.
