November 2014 really seems a bit late to be parodying the biggest pop culture hits of 2013. We’ve already seen enough Frozen mash-ups to last us a lifetime, to say nothing of Breaking Bad parodies. But hey, great art takes time, and “Do You Want to Build a Meth Lab?” is worth the wait.
As the title suggests, the Breaking Bad Frozen parody reimagines “Do You Want to Build a Snowman?” through a Breaking Bad lens. Anna’s wistful musical appeal to Elsa becomes a dangerous plea from Walt to Jesse. Watch “Do You Want to Build a Meth Lab?” after the jump. (Warning: Major Breaking Bad spoilers ahoy.) (Another warning: If you proceed, you will have the tune stuck in your head for the next 24 hours.)
The ridiculousness starts early, with Walt shoving Anna aside to remind her he is the one who knocks. Not that things would have gone any better if Walt had let Anna do the knocking.
It’s pretty amazing how well Frozen and Breaking Bad go together. In retrospect, though, the connection seems obvious. So much of Breaking Bad was Walt wheedling, threatening, and/or manipulating Jesse into staying his partner, even after Jesse makes it clear he wants out. Walt never actually serenaded Jesse from outside his door, but he might have resorted to it eventually if the show gone on longer.
Considering how big both Frozen and Breaking Bad were in the second half of 2013, it’s really kind of surprising there aren’t more Breaking Bad / Frozen mash-ups out there already. Where’s the “Fixer Upper”-based ode to Walt and Jesse’s RV? Why haven’t we heard Walt Jr.’s rendition of “Breakfast Is Better Than People?” How have we not seen Walt embrace his inner Heisenberg with a “Let It Go”-style showstopper?Cool Posts From Around the Web:
