Fresh off a trip to Planet Zero, Toby Kebbell is preparing to set sail for Kong: Skull Island. The Fantastic Four baddie joins a high-profile cast that also includes Tom Hiddleston and Brie Larson. Jordan Vogt-Roberts (Kings of Summer) is directing. Learn all about the Kong Skull Island Toby Kebbell casting after the jump.
THR reports Kebbell is currently in negotiations for the Universal monster movie. Details on his character (and all the other characters) are being kept under warps. The story concerns a team of explorers who journey into the “the mysterious, creature-laden isle that is also the home of the king of the apes.” Samuel L. Jackson, John C. Reilly, and Straight Outta Compton breakout Corey Hawkins also star.
Jurassic World co-writer Derek Connolly was just brought on for a new draft of the screenplay, which has also been worked on by Max Borenstein (Godzilla), John Gatins (Flight), and Dan Gilroy (Nightcrawler). Legendary’s Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni are producing with Mary Parent.
Fantastic Four was an high-profile disaster for everyone involved, so it’s a relief to see it hasn’t derailed any of its young stars’ careers. Miles Teller picked up a plum new gig just yesterday, and Kate Mara and Michael B. Jordan have much more promising releases lined up this fall (The Martian and Creed, respectively).
Kebbell has previous experience with CG apes, having played Koba in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. He also has an existing relationship with Legendary as one of the stars of Duncan Jones’ Warcraft, due out next summer. Recently, he wrapped Timur Bekmambetov’s Ben-Hur and J.A. Bayona’s A Monster Calls. His other notable credits include Wrath of the Titans, Prince of Persia, and RocknRolla
Shooting on Kong: Skull Island begins late October in Hawaii. The film is scheduled to open March 10, 2017.Cool Posts From Around the Web:
