Josh Brolin could follow Bryce Dallas Howard, Ty Simpkins, and Nick Robinson to Jurassic World. The Oldboy star has just entered early talks for the Colin Trevorrow-directed sequel, which has a script by Derek Connolly. More details about the movie and his role after the jump.

The storyline of the film is being kept under wraps for now. Brolin is expected to play the lead, but no details about the character have been revealed beyond that. We know that Robinson and Simpkins will play brothers, but again, it’s unclear precisely how they fit into the story as a whole.

Like Howard and others, Brolin was considered early in the process before production was delayed, and he’s been rumored for the movie ever since. In fact, his casting was reported several weeks ago by Variety before the site backtracked. It seems Brolin’s casting has made further progress since then. TheWrap reports today that although no formal offer has been extended to Brolin yet, one should be coming shortly.

Brolin has had a busy 2013, kicking off the year with Gangster Squad. He’ll lead the long-gestating Oldboy remake next month, followed by a highly praised turn in Jason Reitman’s Labor Day in December. His other upcoming roles include Sin City: A Dame to Kill For and Paul Thomas Anderson’s Inherent Vice, both of which hit next year.

Jurassic World hit a speed bump this summer when Universal pumped the brakes to rework the screenplay, postponing its release by a year. However, it’s clearly back on track now, with casting picking up speed over the past few weeks. In addition to Howard, Simpkins, and Robinson, New Girl‘s Jake Johnson is said to be circling a part in the movie. David Oyelowo was also mentioned some time ago as a possibility.

Jurassic World opens in 3D on June 12, 2015.
