James Rhodes (Don Cheadle) has one, Aldrich Killian (Guy Pearce) has one, The Mandarin (Ben Kingsley) has one, and now Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) has one too. Marvel Studios has just released their latest character poster for Iron Man 3, which shows a sad Pepper clutching a banged-up Iron Man helmet.
Meanwhile, Tony Stark himself (Robert Downey Jr.) has landed on the cover of Empire Magazine, looking a little worse for the wear but utterly determined. And yes, that issue comes with some brand-new images from the film. Hit the jump to check it all out.
Interesting that both Pepper and Tony are holding Iron Man helmets, but with totally different attitudes. He strikes a strong pose, even as his scratched-up armor suggests he’s been through some bad stuff, whereas she almost looks like she’s in mourning. (Unless, that is, her arms are wrapped around the helmet because she’s trying to snap Tony’s neck.)
The first couple of stills from Empire just show Tony, Pepper, and Aldrich Killian standing around, but the last one shows Tony with “A.I.M.” splashed across his chest. We’ve seen that logo before, in photos from the set, but now we’re left to wonder exactly how Tony winds up in one of their t-shirts.
Directed by Shane Black, Iron Man 3 opens May 3.

When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?
