It almost seems a shame to post the new Interstellar IMAX TV spot here at /Film, because this is so obviously the kind of film that begs to be seen on the biggest screen possible. On the other hand, though, if sharing a dinky YouTube preview is what it takes to get people to see the full movie in a proper IMAX theater, then the net effect of that will be good.
Besides, we admit, it’s just really hard to resist taking a peek at Christopher Nolan‘s latest stunner. Watch the Interstellar IMAX TV spot after the jump.
Warner Bros. unveiled the new Interstellar IMAX TV spot on YouTube. There’s not much in the way of new footage here — it’s more or less a remixed version of the last trailer — but it’s hard to get too grumbly about that when the footage we do get looks so damn good.
Matthew McConaughey leads the cast as some kind of astronaut, who needs to go somewhere, to do something. As you can tell from that description, Nolan is being his usual secretive self with the marketing for this one. But he’s more than earned our trust at this point, and anyway this is a fantastic spot from beginning to end. Who cares if we don’t quite know what it’s about? Michael Caine reading “Do not go gentle into that good night” is practically worth the price of admission all by itself.
Interstellar lands in theaters November 7. Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Casey Affleck, Matt Damon, Michael Caine, Ellen Burstyn, John Lithgow, and Topher Grace also star, because Nolan is the kind of director who can command a cast like that.
Interstellar chronicles the adventures of a group of explorers who make use of a newly discovered wormhole to surpass the limitations on human space travel and conquer the vast distances involved in an interstellar voyage.
