After The Avengers hit theaters, I had the idea to record a short discussion about the potential future and possibilites for the Marvel movie universe. I consider myself a comic book reader and have a couple shelves of graphic novels to prove it. But I’ve found that know very little about the Marvel universe besides the origin stories and the more acclaimed story arcs of many of our heroes.

Infinity Gauntlet? Thanos? Guardians of the Galaxy? I obviously needed someone who had a better background in the mythology of the Marvel comic universe. So I invited Jeff Cannata, best known as a host on the popculture video web series The Totally Rad Show. I also invited /Film’s own Germain Lussier to the table as he puts together the daily Superhero Bits feature round-up, and knows a lot about the rumors and what has been said or leaked publicly.

So last Friday afternoon we sat together and had a discussion about Marvel’s movie future. Marvel Entertainment head Kevin Feige has said that Marvel has mapped out a plan leading towards their next big event film in 2015, which everyone assumes is The Avengers 2. We talk about the after effects of The Avengers, who was the guy in the end credits, what we can expect from the upcoming sequels: Iron Man 3, Thor 2, and Captain America 2, how this might all lead to a big screen adaptation of the Infinity Gauntlet or Civil War comic storylines, how the Guardians of the Galaxy might come into play, if we’ll see another Hulk film or a Bucky solo adaptation The Winter Soldier, when we’ll finally get Edgar Wright‘s Ant-Man or a big screen Doctor Strange, what Disney Animation Studios might be planning to do in the Marvel Universe, the rights issues which prevent the Skrulls from appearing in the Marvel Universe and rides/attractions based on Marvel superheroes in Disney World, The Runaways, Power Pack, and much much more.
