MondoCon

The first details from the first Mondo comic convention have now been revealed. Dubbed MondoCon, the show will take place September 20-21 in Austin Texas. So far, that’s really all we knew. Today we know much more. Mondo has revealed the first round of guests who’ll attend the convention, including Mike Mignola, Bernie Wrightson, Phantom City Creative, Jock, Jay Shaw, Jason Edmiston, Francesco Francavilla and many others.

The’ve also revealed the event won’t only be for posters. It’ll offer “new artwork and products as well as panels and special screenings” in the areas of film, music, and toys, as well as art. Tickets go on sale Thursday June 4 and cost $70 for both days or $35 for one day.

Mondo is thrilled to officially announce its inaugural MondoCon event, set to coincide with the first weekend of Fantastic Fest on September 20 & 21 at The Marchesa Hall & Theater in Austin, TX. The convention will bring together unique guests from a variety of areas to celebrate film, music, art, and toys with the world’s finest artists, designers, illustrators, painters, toy creators as well as directors, composers and more. The convention will offer new artwork and products as well as panels and special screenings.

A full schedule of events will be unveiled in the coming months, but for now Mondo is excited to present the first round of guests in attendance, including fan favorite artists & legends like celebrated comics artist & Hellboy creator, Mike Mignola, Basil Gogos, Geof Darrow and Bernie Wrightson. To mark the occasion, Mondo is also unveiling Mignola’s poster for The Bride of Frankenstein (details on the print below).

Mondo has expanded in recent years to include a world-renowned gallery, becoming passionate purveyors of art, vinyl, VHS and a brand new area that was cryptically teased with this Iron Giant tweet. MondoCon will celebrate all of this and more, a chance for fans of film, art, collectibles & music to mix with their creators.

Tickets for MondoCon will go sale Wednesday, June 4 at Mondo-Con.com. Single day tickets will are $35 and full weekend tickets are $70. A full weekend ticket to MondoCon will be included with all VIP badges for Fantastic Fest

I’ll be attending MondoCon (because, of course) so you’ll get all the access including images, interviews, reports and more. For now though, I’m excited for the fact Mondo seems to be expanding into toys. That’s just beyond cool. Plus, if that’s just the first wave of names who’ll be in attendance, who knows how much better it can get.

Also revealed is Mondo’s take on The Bride of Frankenstein by Mike Mignola. It goes on sale Thursday, June 5 at MondoTees.com. It’s an edition of 325 with 21 x 32 dimensions. It’ll cost $50. Follow @MondoNews for exact sale time. Here’s the image via EW.
