Exclusive: Jason Edmiston's Face-Melting 'Raiders Of The Lost Ark' Paintings For Crazy 4 Cult New York

Next week, New York gets a taste of Los Angeles as Gallery 1988 brings their signature event, Crazy 4 Cult, back to the Big Apple. The show opens December 13 and while we'll have much more on the event in the upcoming days, two pieces in particular deserve to be called out.

They're paintings by Jason Edmiston, who recently had a solo gallery show at Mondo in Austin, TX. Edmiston captured the climax of Steven Spielberg's Raiders of the Lost Ark with two paintings showing Colonel Dietrich and  Major Arnold Toht in the horrific final moments. These works aren't for the faint of heart, but they will find a place in the heart of any Indiana Jones fan. Check them out below.

First up is Colonel Dietrich. The piece is called "What A World!" and is a 12 x 16 inch acrylic painting on wood. Framed, it costs $2,500 but there's also a signed and numbered, 12 x 16 inch giclee in an edition of 50. It'll cost $50.

Next is Major Toht. This work is called "I'm Melting...MELTING" and is also 12 x 16 inch acrylic painting on wood. Like the other, the original is $2,500 but there's also a signed and numbered, 12 x 16 inch giclee in an edition of 50 that'll cost $50.

Both pieces will first be available at Crazy 4 Cult: Back in New York, which opens at 7 p.m. December 13 at 355A Bowery in Manhattan. The show will remain on display through December 21. We'll have much more work from the show in the next week.
