The red-band trailer for Fede Alvarez‘s remake of Sam Raimi‘s Evil Dead is now online and it’s the kind of movie that should only have a red band trailer. Fans will be delighted to see the gore that made the 1981 original a classic look like a Disney film. This new version, which is produced by Raimi and Bruce Campbell, opens April 12. Check out the trailer below.

I mean, come on. If you’re a fan of horror, I’m not sure how that trailer can’t get you pumped up.
The most obvious thing, of course, is the copious amount of blood. Almost too much blood. However, it seems like Alvarez has plenty of tension to go along with it. If the film was a 90 minute geyser of blood, no one would care. But the editing of the trailer suggests, much like the original film, long stretches of tension followed by brief, intense sequences of violence. Very extreme violence. I don’t think anyone will soon forget that tongue scene.
Opening April 12, Evil Dead follows “five twenty-something friends who become holed up in a remote cabin where they discover a Book Of The Dead. An archaeologist’s tape recording reveals that the ancient text was discovered among the Khandarian ruins of a Sumerian civilization. Playing the taped incantations, the youths unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival.”
What do you think of the red band trailer?
