Marvel has had a pretty good track record over the past several years. The eight Cinematic Universe films so far have received good to great reviews from fans and critics alike; even relative duds like Iron Man 2 were merely disappointing instead of flat-out terrible. But if the first responses to Captain America: The Winter Soldier are to be believed, Marvel may have just hit another new high.
A wave of Twitter reactions hit last night following a press screening of the movie, and they ranged from great to totally effing amazing. More than one person declared that this could be Marvel’s best movie yet. Seems like a huge compliment considering that the roster also includes The Avengers and the first Iron Man. Hit the jump to get the early buzz.
To kick things off, here’s our very own Germain Lussier:
Captain America: The Winter Soldier is awesome. A tad too long, a tad too plotty, but its action & MCU impact will blow your damn mind.

Which sounds really positive, right? But because Germain’s tweet actually points out some minor flaws, it actually falls on the more negative end of the spectrum. That’s how across-the-board awesome the reactions are. One person even called it perfect.
Oh, wow is CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER a perfect film. Wow wow wow.

The CAPTAIN AMERICA sequel blew me away. Movie has a fantastic script, amazing action, and great character moments. Just about perfect.

CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER: Phase 2 is 3/3 for me. Anthony Mackie has finally found that breakthrough role.

Really liked Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Proves Joss isn't only 1 in Marvel's arsenal who can craft a compelling/fresh female char

‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ is Marvel’s best movie to date. You thought the trailers were great? You ain’t seen nothing yet.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier is absolutely incredible. Best action in a Marvel solo movie and perhaps the best of them all – around.

CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER is right up there as one of the best Marvel movies ever. Epic and full of great surprises for fans.

Marvel Studios gets Captain America better than any of their other heroes. THE WINTER SOLDIER is terrific.

The wave of hype was so powerful, even some innocent bystanders got pulled in.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier is the best out of all the… oh, who am I kidding, I wasn't invited to see it.

As usual, keep in mind that these are instantaneous 140-character reactions, not carefully considered reviews. Still, even if Captain America: The Winter Soldier turns out to be something less than totally perfect, it’s clear that Marvel fans are in for a big treat.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier lands in theaters April 4.

Joining forces with the Black Widow, Captain America struggles to expose the ever-widening conspiracy while fighting off professional assassins sent to silence him at every turn. When the full scope of the villainous plot is revealed, Captain America and the Black Widow enlist the help of a new ally, the Falcon.
