Nicholson is my favorite actor ever. But no one will ever top Ledger in that role. I get to see this for free any time that I want and I get to see it in IMAX before anyone else… I work at a movie theatre.

Yeah i agree! ppl underestimate the power of the director and writer ( the nolan bros.) Whoever would play the Joker next time which I hope is gordon-levitt (The Look Out is a sublime film check it out) would have to play it as Heath Ledger did with the same voice, mannerisms and passion.

I think when ppl that say other actors shouldn’t play joker are forgetting that “the joker” is bigger than any “one” actor. This is a character that has beein reincarnated over a dozen times in almost 70 years through tv, cartoons, movies, comics and graphic novels.As far as the films Heath ledger is probably great and all but if the joker’s story has to be continued in a 3rd movie then get another actor besides he’s wearing face paint I mean chris angel could play him lol put some face paint on him doesn’t matter. We’re in a culture when the actor is bigger than the character the joker is THE JOKER and Heath Ledger even tho’ he’s good piece of talent is not bigger than “The joker” character.

Don’t get me wrong…I think Depp, Dicaprio, and the other mentioned replacements for the Joker are all great actors but I don’t think any of them should play the Joker in this installment of Batman. Let Ledger be the last Joker from the Dark Knight Series and don’t ruin a perfect legacy left by Leadger as the Joker.

Regardless of what you might think, these other actors will not portray the Joker in the same fashion as Heath Ledger. Besides, if one of these actors did try to play the Joker and didn’t live up to the standards set by Ledger, I think it would not do justice to the Dark Knight Series and would go as far as to say that it would be a black eye on the series. Interested to hear what others think….

I think that villains like Mr. freeze would kind of get in the way of the batman movie because the whole idea of this new franchise is for us to get to know batman which is what the Burton/Schumacher movies didn’t do. Ra’s al Ghul , Two-face and the Joker seem to be characters that impact Batman’s life on a “personal” level I don’t know how the hell Riddler and penguin or Bane would do that. Especially with 1 movie to go before Nolan and Bale quit the franchise

Everyone is talking about a possible return of the Joker but isn’t there really only one movie left? One movie would be too soon for the return of any major villain. Even with Heath still alive, with Nolan stating that he only has an interest in making 3 movies, the chances of Joker returning would have been very slim.

Ledger’s performance will be great , I still think almost any actor can play the joker and it could be good. If Leonardo Dicaprio played he joker it would still be an interesting interpretation.I mean the guy who played Luke skywalker made a great joker for goodness sake!!He wears make-up and goes crazy. THE JOKER is just a great character . It’s no concidence that every person who has played the character has done a great job!
