A day without Star Wars rumors is like a day without sunshine. Earlier today, we ran a few of the latest and like any good virus, a bunch of others have sprouted up around them. The most interesting has to do with the the home of Daisy Ridley‘s character, referred to on set as Kira. Multiple sources confirm not only where she lives, what she lives inside, and it’s probably a good size spoiler.
The second has to do with the role played by Max Von Sydow. We know he’s cast in the movie, but we haven’t heard much about who he’s playing outside of speculation. A new report has an idea, and it’s not at all what anyone guessed. Read more about the latest Star Wars 7 rumors below.
As with all of these rumors, we don’t know if they’re true, but if so they should be considered spoilers. Not major spoilers, but good sized medium spoilers from the first act of the film.
The first rumor began on Making Star Wars. Remember that first photo we saw from the set of Star Wars 7? It was of a big AT-AT foot on a desert planet. Well, that foot may belong to Kira’s home. Yes, according to both Making Star Wars and Badass Digest, Kira lives in a destroyed AT-AT. Note: the image above is not from Episode 7, but a fan creation from 2005 to help give you an idea (minus the greenery, of course). Here’s a description from MSW:
On a desert planet, there’s a canyon, sandy and brown. In front of the canyon is a downed AT-AT walker, laying on its side. A young girl sits atop of the mechanical beast’s head. She gazes outward towards the end of the canyon where her hopes and dreams may one day be realized, not unlike Luke Skywalker yearning for more from his mundane life. For now, this is her home, the wreckage of years of intergalactic warfare. The legs of the AT-AT are partially obscured by sand at the “ankles” but pop out at the feet. This walker has been there for some time and nature has began to take the machine into the earth. The AT-AT lays on its left side, its head leveled by the dirt from which its head smashed into during a battle some time ago. The right side of the body of the AT-AT faces upwards, battle scared, shot by many laser blasts which no doubt brought the machine down. Battle wreckage is littered all around the fallen beast.
That certainly sounds like the leftovers of the Empire are being used by our heroes. Plus it’s pretty damn descriptive and specific to be fake. Then again, anything is possible. But the evidence is there. Especially since Badass Digest ran a very similar story.
Their story continued to rumor two as well. The article describes Max Von Sydow’s character. According to Badass (as well as MSW, who corroborated after) he plays an old cyborg who may or may not be living with Kira. Here’s an excerpt from BAD:
She’s hanging out there with von Sydow, who is an old cyborg dude, a guy who maybe has dementia. He talks a lot of nonsense. But as soon as that lightsbaber shows up, he gets lucid. He recognizes it. He begins to talk about the old days, name drops a couple of Prequel Trilogy characters, even. And then, after Kira and the alien leave he makes a call to a mysterious figure. “It’s here.”
If that actually happens, that seriously gave me chills. But I’m a nerd so, maybe it’s just me.
The Badass Report goes on to say the Millennium Falcon and X-Wing drone photos were taken at a set that was the Yavin IV base from A New Hope, but it might also be doubling for something else too. That’s a little less clear.
For now, head to both sites to read more about all these rumors. if they’re true though – and they seem like it – what do you think? I kind of love the idea. Setting Kira in an AT-AT automatically tells you so much about the state of the universe after Return of the Jedi.Cool Posts From Around the Web:
