Cool Stuff: 'Game Of Thrones' IMAX Posters By Robert Ball

The appeal of seeing Game of Thrones on an IMAX screen should be pretty obvious, but it takes a lot to convince people to brave the January cold. So here's one more reason to shell out for Game of Thrones in IMAX: the theater company has just revealed two cool commemorative Game of Thrones IMAX posters by artist Robert Ball, to be distributed for free at participating locations.

Check out the Game of Thrones IMAX posters after the jump.

Here are Ball's Game of Thrones IMAX posters. One is based on the penultimate episode of Season 4, "The Watchers on the Wall," while the other is based on the Season 4 finale, "The Children." Be warned that the latter depicts a major spoiler.

IMAX has announced that the posters will go to the first 300 IMAX ticket holders for the first Game of Thrones IMAX screening (January 29 at 10 PM) at participating theaters. AMC customers will receive the "The Watchers on the Wall" one, and everyone else will get the "The Children" one. (Personally, I think I prefer the latter.) If you like what you see, Ball has an extensive gallery of other Game of Thrones-inspired art on his website.

According to IMAX, Game of Thrones is the first-ever TV series to be presented in the format. It seems an appropriate choice, considering how cinematic the show is. The episodes were not shot in IMAX but will be digitally remastered for the presentation. 200 screens across the country will show the Game of Thrones IMAX presentation, which consists of "The Watchers on the Wall" directed by Neil Marshall, "The Children" directed by Alex Graves, and an exclusive Game of Thrones Season 5 trailer.
Location info and tickets for the Game of Thrones IMAX screenings can be found at the IMAX websiteGame of Thrones Season 5 premieres Sunday, April 12 at 9 PM on HBO.
