Colin Trevorrow Talks 'Jurassic World' Timeline

2015's Jurassic World is the third sequel to Jurassic Park. That much we know. What we don't exactly know is how it fits into that world. Will the same characters, events and consequences be at stake? Will it be a wholly new story? Are there dinosaurs? Well, we know the last one, and have a few good ideas about the other two, but director Colin Trevorrow felt generous on Twitter earlier this week and revealed a bit more about Jurassic World than we knew before.

The info came from Trevorrow simply replying to a fan's tweet.

In case that embed didn't work, Trevorrow was asked "Mr. Trevorrow, everytime I read something, it says JW is a reboot. Please tell us that its not a reboot?! I'm going bonkers!" He replied, "Reboot is a strong word. This is a new sci-fi terror adventure set 22 years after the horrific events of Jurassic Park."

From that we can deduct the events in Jurassic Park (and likely The Lost World and Jurassic Park III) have happened in Jurassic World, but things set in motion by John Hammond and InGen all those years ago have still not been settled. It sounds like a "sequel" in story and setting, but "reboot" in terms of main characters and stakes. Is that what you deduce? (Also, Jurassic Park will be 22 years old when World comes out.)

Jurassic World stars, or at least is rumored to star, Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Ty Simpkins and Nick Robinson. It opens June 12, 2015.
