This weekend’s The Three Stooges doesn’t look too promising (though there are a handful of positive reviews), and last week’s American Reunion was only okay. Fortunately, there are a couple of much more enticing comedies on the horizon. The latest project from producer Judd Apatow‘s laugh factory, The Five-Year Engagement, is due out later this month, followed a few weeks later by the opening of Sacha Baron Cohen‘s newest exercise in politically incorrect insanity, The Dictator.
Because we know that not a one of you feel like working on a Friday afternoon (otherwise, you’d be actually working instead of checking /Film), we’ve got new clips from both. For the less humorously inclined, there’s also another new scene from The Avengers. Hit the jump to watch.
Let’s start with The Five-Year Engagement. Jason Segel and Emily Blunt star as a couple who get to the brink of marriage… and then sort of just hang there for a while. In this clip, the lovebirds argue over the religious angle of their upcoming ceremony. I think we’ve seen a snippet of this scene before, in one of the trailers, but here’s a longer look:
The Five-Year Engagement reunites Segel with his Forgetting Sarah Marshall director Nicholas Stoller, and boasts a buzzy supporting cast that also includes Alison Brie, Chris Pratt, Kevin Hart, and more. It hits April 27.
Next, we’ve got a thirty-second glimpse of The Dictator, starring Cohen as an exiled Middle Eastern despot who finds himself in the weird, wonderful world of New York City. In need of a new job, he winds up working at a grocery store alongside a sweet, smart, hippie-ish Anna Faris.

I haven’t loved all of the trailers we’ve seen for The Dictator so far, but I think Cohen’s earned some benefit of the doubt for his work on Ali G, Borat, and Bruno. Plus, Faris looks to be charming as usual here. The Dictator bows May 16.
And finally, here’s another snippet from The Avengers. This one’s a little more action-heavy than the last few we got, so if you’ve been eager to see what Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Captain America (Chris Evans) look like in fighting mode, you’ll want to watch it below:

By this point, I assume you already know the premise and cast of The Avengers, so I won’t bother spelling it out again. Hey, I feel lazy on Friday afternoons, too. Directed by Joss Whedon, the much-hyped Avengers descends May 4.
