Francesco Marciuliano’s latest web comic is about WALL-E’s problem with collecting crap.

It’s funny how the tides change so quickly. At WonderCon 2007, Brad Bird insisted that Pixar was not in the sequel business. Bird said:
“At Pixar, the bottom line is the story that you’re telling. And Pixar does not look at sequels as a financial plan. We feel we have a relation ship with the audience and that they believe in each movie we put out. We believe completely in every movie we put out. If I can come up with a story that is as good or better than that first film, then I’d love to return to that world, but it would have to be story first.”
After Disney acquired [...]
Disney has announced that they will be pushing the big screen adaptation of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time back to May 28th 2010, from it’s previously announced June 19th 2009 release date. The old date was one week before Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. The good news is that the new date is part of Memorial Day weekend, which will give the film a four day opening. The bad news is that the movie will now have to contend with Shrek Goes Fourth, which opens one week prior, and Marvel’s Thor, which is scheduled to hit theaters one week later. Prince of Persia is an action adventure [...]
The biggest shocker at Comic Con was the premiere of a 3-minute trailer for Tron 2. The reason why it was such a shocker is that, as far as anyone knew, the film hadn’t even gone into production. But the trailer featured a fantastic completed lightcycle chase. So how did it come to be?
Jim Hill explains all the behind the scenes happenings of this project in detail on his blog, but here is the basic details: John Lasseter got behind the project. Disappointed with the direction Steve Lisberger was going in, Lasseter hired Lost writers Eddie Kitsis & Adam Horowitz to overhaul the screenplay. And as we reported a while [...]
Disney has launched an official teaser website for the reboot of Race to Witch Mountain. Our friend Mike was really surprised at the footage that premiered at Comic Con. I decided to skip the panel and apparently missed out, which is a shame since I loved the original Witch Mountain movies as a kid.
Disney has released a teaser trailer for their upcoming 2D animated film, The Princess and the Frog. The film promises to return to the Broadway-style musical in the likes of the successful Disney films. I want to root for traditional animation, but this film doesn’t look like it even comes close to the standards set with Walt Disney’s classics. And in a day an age where audiences are spoiled with Pixar productions, a 2D production has to be three times as special. What do you guys think? Get the latest Flash Player to see this player.

CelebEdge is reporting a rumor that Johnny Depp will be re-teaming with Tim Burton (duh) to play The Mad Hatter in Burton’s upcoming hybrid adaptation of Alice in Wonderland. Rumors have surrounded the project since it was first announced. At one point some reports were claiming that Depp was actually going to play Alice, as the film is supposed to incorporate performance capture. Thankfully that rumor didn’t end up being true, as In Treatment star Mia Wasikowska was announced for the part. So who knows, this could be true, or just another rumor. My guess is that Depp will be involved in the production in some capacity, and the Mad [...]

Disney has released a sneak preview of the teaser trailer for Pixar’s Up. The full teaser will also be included on the upcoming DVD release of WALL-E. Other promotional footage shown at Comic Con touted the film as from the “creators on Monsters Inc, Co-creator of Toy Story, and Co-creator of Wall-E”. Pixar takes us “to a lost world where anything can happen and will happen.” Director Peter Doctor promises that “In Up, we’re taking you to a world you’ve never seen [...]
Update: The trailer has leaked onto YouTube.
There have been a number of rumblings in the film news world about another Tron film being released by Disney, including word that it would be in 3D, and even that Jeff Bridges was going to be hearing a pitch about a sequel. No actual information had been confirmed though.
Until now.
Courtesy of the folks at Disney, Comic Con got a surprise look at a scene from the film. The teaser starts off with the camera panning through a strange stylized landscape. At this point, nobody knew what we were watching, so only silence filled the hall. And then, two blue/yellow suit-wearing motorcyclists burst into [...]
I decided to skip Disney’s Race to Witch Mountain panel and not only missed out on a surprise 3-minute long Tron 2 trailer, but apparently a good flick. Our good friend Mike from Great White Snark sat through the Witch Mountain presentation and was raving about how great it was. Wait, what? Yeah, apparently it looked cool. Who would have thought? So I decided to capture his review on video for you to enjoy.

Earlier today I posted about the cool comic con branded keys at my hotel. but I forgot to tell you about the Pixar branded Up elevator. The entire elevator is covered with a cloud print.
And in another elevator we found this Windows computer error.
Jim Hill is reporting that Walt Disney Imagineering will be adding a new Monsters Inc attraction to Pixar Place in Walt Disney World just in time for the park’s 40th anniversary. Apparently the lie queue area will entail an elaborate recreation of the Monsters, Inc lobby, complete with Mike Wazowski’s snake-haired girlfriend Ceilia behind the reception desk. The ride will be set after the events of the film, and human visitors of Disney World will come tour the facility as part of an open house. The two-minute long coaster attraction is rigged to collect human laughter and screams from the guests, and ends with a bang. Read the full description [...]
Animatronic Remy The Rat
The Pitch: This life-size animatronic Remy the rat from Pixar’s Ratatouille is used to attract guests to enter a restaurant in Disneyland Paris’ Disney Studios park. Check out another video after the jump.
This review has two spoilers and they are labeled as such in the article.
If that twat Leona Helmsley had seen Wall-E she probably would have left $8 billion to an unkempt robot trash compactor. Or by default Pixar. The nonpareil animation studio’s ninth film is arguably their best, a touchstone for the current culture that will outlive us all and make its way into lonely, lonely space one day strapped beside There Will Be Blood. I’m not overlooking the “contrarians’” views of the film either; Wall-E is definitely a hypocritical vacuum of sorts, vaulting its strong wake up, shape up and save-us-all-from-Wal-Mart message into millions of laps dampened by extra [...]
At the conclusion of the film’s opening weekend, over 5,300 IMDb users have rated Pixar’s WALL-E, resulting in a 9.3 average user rating. This currently places the film at #9 on IMDb’s top 250 movies of all time, behind only Godfather 1 and 2, Shawshank Redemption, Good Bad and Ugly, Pulp Fiction, Schindlers List, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, and Empire Strikes Back. But with only 5,000 votes, the movie will likely drop on the list as more votes are counted. But the question is how far? The high placement is worth noting because it rarely happens. And when it does, the movie usually lands a fairly high placement.
Meanwhile, [...]
