Big banner ads all over Comic Con are advertising Tru Blood, the fictional “synthetic blood nourishment beverage” that serves as a blood replacement for vampires in Alan Ball’s new series, True Blood. Eerily convincing, they serve as a clever reminder of the show’s ARG, which also includes a vampire dating site and a blog. Naturally, with all this great marketing and with Alan Ball’s name behind it (not to mention Charlaine Harris, who wrote the Southern Vampire Mysteries books that the series is based off of), there’s a great deal of hype for the show, which documents the world of Sookie, a telepathic waitress, and her relationship with Bill Compton, [...]

Lionsgate premiered the first teaser trailer for SAW V at Comic Con, and it’s now available online on Yahoo. The trailer begins very untraditionally, actually more like a film you would expect to be the complete opposite of Saw. And then suddenly we get assaulted by the film’s true nature - the trap. But the big question is - how will they continue to keep Jigsaw involved in the storyline. Watch the trailer now below.
SAW V hits theaters on October 24th 2008.
Alex Proyas showed an extended trailer for his upcoming thriller Knowing, which just finished shooting. The footage begins with a young girl standing in a school yard looking up at the sky. A teacher calls everyone inside, but Lucinda doesn’t move. Title card: Lexington, Massachusetts 1959. The teacher instructs the kids to draw pictures of what they think the future will look like. The drawings will be opened in 50 years. Lucinda’s teacher scolds her for filling her sheet with numbers instead of a traditional drawing.
Cut to 50 years later, the drawings are uncovered in the opening of the time capsule. Young Caleb, played by Chandler Canterbury, takes the numbered [...]
Mark Wahberg, Mila Kunis, Ludacris, and Director John Moore (The Omen, Behind Enemy Lines) were in attendance to premiere Max Payne footage at the Fox panel at Comic Con.
During the Panel, John Moore kept repeating how important it was for him to stay as subjective to Max Payne’s character as possible. He believed once you take away the controller from the player, you better make it as personal to the audience as you can. Moore’s reasoning is that when you play the game the whole reason to play it is to feel like you’re a part of the story.
If you’re a fan of the game, you would be excited of [...]
In an entirely unprecedented move, Hugh Jackman burst onto the scene at Comic Con after having flown straight from Australia, with filming on Wolverine literally finishing up just this past week. He announced that he just had to reveal to the real fans (without whom he claims he “wouldn’t have a career”) what the movie would be like, offering up the first ever seen trailer/footage.
Naturally, this caused an onslaught of applause from audience members.
The trailer kicks off with Wolverine and Sabertooth in a prison cell. They get taken outside, strapped to posts, and shot to hell by a firing squad. “What did that feel like?” a man asks. Wolverine responds: [...]
Summit Entertainent’s Comic Con panel had segments for Push, Knowing, and Twilight. After Alex Proyas spoke for a few minutes about Knowing, Twilight was next, but even before the moderator could announce who was coming on stage, the audience erupted in the endless screams of pubescent females. It is difficult to understate the volume and ferocity of the piercing shrieks that filled the hall. Me, Vic Holtreman from Screenrant and Eve from Geeksofdoom (both sitting next to me) had to cover our ears to contain the aural damage.
The panel had Twilight’s director, Catherine Hardwicke, and the author of the book the movie was based on, Stephenie Meyer. In addition, the [...]
Summit Entertainment revealed the first footage from their upcoming thriller Push. The clip played like the opening credit sequence of a film, showing us images and close-ups but no actual scenes (of at least as far as I could tell). The segment was cut over Clint Mansell’s Fountain soundtrack which probably made it feel cooler than it actually was. A young female character named Cassie explains that there are special people in this world that have been born with psychic powers. It was explained that in 1945 government agencies set up for psychic warfare, trying to turn those people with abilities into soldiers. After the war, governments began to set [...]
I, Robot director Alex Proyas has denied rumors that he is attached to a big screen adaptation of The Silver Surfer.
“Unfortunately that is just a rumor. I don’t know where that came from,” Proyas told the crowd at Comic Con. “I do like Silver Surfer, but I’m not going to be doing it.”
The Day The Earth Stood Still director Scott Derrickson, star Keanu Reeves, and producer Erwin Stoff opened the first major panel of Comic Con 2008. Here are the three things I learned about The Day The Earth Stood Still remake from the panel:
Erwin Stoff actually proposed the idea f a Day The Earth Stood Still Remake to a producer shortly after the release of Speed, but a regime change prevented the project from developing into a film until nearly 15 years later.
Derrickson confirmed that Gort is definitely in the movie. He claims they went through hundreds of different possibilities in the conceptual stage but came back to something that wasn’t [...]
We braved the lines of insane Twilight fans and are now sitting in Hall H. A huge scaffolded curtain fell while people were entering. I’m not sure if anyone was injured. The Fox panel was delayed as they inspected the curtains around the stage. After all, no one wants Keanu Reeves to get hurt.

We decided to video tape our epic first day at Comic Con 2008. Little did we know that it would end in long lines, exhaustion, dehydration and poor camera work. Instead of showing you all the cool shit going on the show floor, we’ve decided to give you a rare alternative look at the boring parts of the con experience. Enjoy.

The Owlship from Watchmen has landed at the San Diego Comic Con. Unfortunately, I wasn’t allowed to board the ship. Check out my photos below.
Every year Comic Con opens one night early exclusively to four day pass holders, professionals and press. I’d love to tell you all about all the cool things I saw on the show floor but my exhaustion is preventing me from doing so. So instead I present to you the photos from my digital camera after the jump. Enjoy.
Earlier today I posted about the cool comic con branded keys at my hotel. but I forgot to tell you about the Pixar branded Up elevator. The entire elevator is covered with a cloud print.
And in another elevator we found this Windows computer error.
Bored while waiting in line for Comic Con we decided to go on a hunt for /Film readers. As you can see, the people at Comic Con love us!
