Rumor: 'Batman V Superman' Trailer Out Mid-May With 'Mad Max: Fury Road'

Last summer, a few thousand people saw a Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice teaser trailer at San Diego Comic-Con. Since then, few bootlegs aside, those are the only people who've seen footage from the highly anticipated 2016 release.

The time is now drawing close to the first official Batman v Superman trailer release date and while a ton of discussion over the past few weeks and months has been about when exactly we'd see it, we might finally have an answer. Rumor has it Warner Bros. is looking at the May 15 release of Mad Max: Fury Road as the right time to unleash the first Batman v Superman trailer.

Collider posted the Batman v Superman trailer release date news. Their sources tell them Warner Bros. is looking at the Mad Max placement not only to help that film, but because the timing is just right. It'll be two weeks after Avengers: Age of Ultron and most likely the cultural conversation about the film will be dying down. It'll also be a few weeks after a new Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer. By waiting until mid May, releasing the trailer for arguably the biggest film ever released by the studio is primed to dominate all the buzz.

Now, if in fact the Batman v Superman trailer will be attached to Mad Max: Fury Road it could mean a few things. It could mean they release it online earlier that week or it could mean they release it only in theaters that weekend and online the week after. That second option doesn't really work, though, because of in theater bootlegging. Lucasfilm knew that and released The Force Awakens teaser trailer seconds after it first premiered in theaters. I'd imagine Warner Bros. does that too.

So where does that leave fans who are going to Comic-Con? Well, I'd imagine if Zack Snyder will have already debuted a trailer for the film, he'll bring a nice, long footage package for the fans, along with his stars.
