'Batman: The Killing Joke' Honest Trailer: The Joke Is On Us

This summer brought the animated adaptation of The Killing Joke, one of the most iconic storylines from the Batman comics. Since the Warner Bros. Animation project was given an R-rating, fans were expecting Batman: The Killing Joke to be the ultimate adaptation of the twisted tale that gives The Joker a most sinister backstory. But instead what we got was a mess of an animated movie that does more of a disservice to Batgirl than anyone had ever anticipated, and the folks at Screen Junkies really unload on it in the Batman The Killing Joke Honest Trailer. Watch it below.

The fact that there's 40 minutes added to The Killing Joke story without adding anything pivotal or significant is pretty sad in itself. But the fact that the rest of the story simply doesn't live up to the legacy of the original comic book is even more frustrating.

Considering all the quality animated work that has come from Warner Bros. Animation for their superheroes, much of it being more in line with what fans want from the big screen iteration of the DC properties, seeing them blow this opportunity to put a great Batman story in motion is supremely disappointing. Even having Mark Hamill back as The Joker couldn't save this from being a complete misfire.

Oh well, at least we have a future to look forward to where The LEGO Batman Movie is in theaters. That's a version of Batman that I think we can all get on board with. If you haven't seen it yet, watch the most recent trailer from last month right here.
