Author Archive: Jon Mezzera

Joe MezzeraJon Mezzera has lived his entire life in the Bay Area. While attending St. Ignatius College Prep. in San Francisco, his interest in film switched from casual every day moviegoer, to film enthusiast while attending a film class his senior year. That, and a desire to become a film critic led him to attend San Francisco State University where he obtained a B.A. in Cinema in May of 2001.

While in college and for a few years after, Jon worked on several short film projects. His jobs included grip work, script supervision assistant camera operation, actor, screenwriter, assistant editor, and advisor. He even directed his own student film, "The Rut" in the spring of his junior year at SFSU. Working on those various student and short films made Jon realize that he would much rather talk and write about movies than work on them. But, he still had a creative drive which at first manifested itself in feature length screen plays. After getting burned out on that, he decided to take one of his story ideas and just write it as a novel which he completed in the summer of 2004. That fall, he signed with a literary agent who's working to find a buyer for his first novel. He has since written a second novel as well.

Currently, Jon lives in Fairfield, California. He just got married and is living happily with his wife Allison!

I had a very good week last week. I was right on the top 3, and was close in their totals. I over shot Shrek the Third a bit, but while I had it at $130 million it made $123 which is very close. (…)

After two weeks of easily winning the Box Office race, Spider-Man 3 finally faces some competition this week with the release of the second of three #3s in May, Shrek the Third. (…)

In September 2005, I wrote a Op / Ed piece on /Film in response to the reports that Spider-Man 3 would have three villains. I was very worried at the time about the movie based on what I had heard. (…)

After taking some time off from my predictions, I see now that I was very rusty in my first week back last week. I had one of my worst (if not the worst) week in doing these predictions. (…)

Well, after a bit of a hiatus, the Box Office Predictions are back. This is the time of year when the Box Office really heats up. (…)

Well, it has been a few weeks since my last set of predictions. Personal reason have kept me from being able to write lately, but now I am back, and at the right time. (…)

I was very disappointed today when I read a posting here on Slashfilm about the remake of the 1956 horror classic, Invasion of the Body Snatchers. (…)

The day the Oscar nominations came out, I posted my predictions for who will win in each category and promised to repost the predictions a week before the Academy Awards broadcast. (…)

I had another solid week last week. I was right with The Messengers for the #1 movie, but over shot the total by about $4 million. (…)

Well, I had another good week last week. For the second week in a row, all of my top 5 made the top 5, but in a slightly different order. (…)

I had a very good week last week. All of my top 5 movies made the top 5, although in a slightly different order. I had Night at the Museum #1 and Stomp the Yard #2, but that was switched. (…)
