Yesterday we reported that movie critic Roger Ebert was spreading a rumor that Little Miss Sunshine would cause a major upset at the 2007 Academy Awards. Well it looks like Vegas visited the same rumor mill.
Right now Little Miss Sunshine is the odds on favorite to win according to Bodog.com. The film is currently in the lead with 5/6 odds, followed by The Departed with 3/2 odds. The Queen is least likely to win with a 19/1 long-shot. But don’t feel bad for Helen Mirren, she is sure to win Best Actress with 1/25 odds (If I’m correct, that means you need to bet $25 to win $1, jeeez).
Initially, everyone (including myself) was surprised that the little picture that could was even nominated. Now it looks like it has a major chance of taking best picture.
Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role: Forest Whitaker is a strong favorite at 1/4, while Ryan Gosling is the long-shot at 18/1.
Best Animated Feature Film of the Year: Cars with 1/3 odds.
Best Achievement in Directing: The Departed (Martin Scorsese) with 1/5 odds.
Best Foreign Language Film of the Year: Pan’s Labyrinth with 1/10 odds.
Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role: Eddie Murphy for Dreamgirls with 2/3 odds followed closely by Alan Arkin for Little Miss Sunshine with 1/1 odds.
Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role: Jennifer Hudson for Dreamgirls with 1/8 odds.
