Last night saw the 2018 Grammy Awards air on CBS. Since that's music's biggest night, it's not something we usually cover, but the Grammys also honor achievements in music from the world of cinema, as well as work that is cinema-adjacent.

Even though La La Land is old news to us by now, the Grammy Awards' very different deadlines meant the Damien Chazelle musical ended up taking home the Grammy for both Best Compilation Soundtrack For Visual Media and Best Score Soundtrack For Visual Media. Meanwhile, the late Carrie Fisher and the great John Williams also took home awards.

Find out more about the (movie relevant!) 2018 Grammy winners below.

When it comes to Best Compilation Soundtrack For Visual Media, an award that has only been given out since 2000, La La Land beat out some pretty serious competition. The other nominees included Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Baby Driver, Hidden Figures and Disney's Moana.

Meanwhile, for Best Score Soundtrack For Visual Media, La La Land composer Justin Hurwitz beat out Jóhann Jóhannsson for Arrival, Hans Zimmer for Dunkirk, Ramin Djawadi for Game of Thrones, and the trio of Benjamin Wallfisch, Pharrell Williams and Hans Zimmer for Hidden Figures.

Even though Moana may have lost out on winning Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media, Disney's wonderful musical didn't go home empty-handed. The signature song "How Far I'll Go," written by Lin-Manuel Miranda and sung by Auli'i Cravalho, took home the Grammy for Best Song Written For Visual Media. The song won out over "City of Stars" from La La Land, "I Don't Wanna Live Forever" from Fifty Shades Darker, "Never Give Up" from Lion, and "Stand Up for Something" from Marshall.

In the instrumental awards, John Williams ended up going home with a Grammy thanks to a special arrangement of a track from his underrated Catch Me If You Can score. The legendary composer put together a new arrangement of his track "Escapades" from the 2002 film directed by Steven Spielberg for the recent album John Williams & Steven Spielberg: The Ultimate Collection.

Finally, on the spoken word side of things, the late Carrie Fisher added one more award to her decorated career. Fisher won the Grammy for Best Spoken Word Album (Includes Poetry, Audio Books & Storytelling) for the recording of her final book, The Princess Diarist. Meanwhile, comedian Dave Chappelle took home a Grammy for his double stand-up special The Age Of Spin & Deep In The Heart Of Texas, now available on Netflix.

Rapper Kendrick Lamar also took home a handful of awards last night, which should get you more excited for the upcoming Black Panther soundtrack he produced, which has a good chance at getting a Grammy nomination next year.
