Cool Stuff: Brandon Schaefer’s Movie Posters

25-year-old Massachusetts-based graphic artist Brandon Schaefer has created an impressive collection of retro-minimal movie posters. The Ghostbusters-inspired posters above have been making the internet rounds recently, but Schaefer has a huge portfolio of posters, some of which can even be purchased as prints on inPRNT.com. Check out some of his posters, after the jump.

  • oooooooooooooh, these are lovely. Reminds me of the old Hitchcock posters - esp the Vertigo one!
  • Lester's were better...
I recognized these immediately...the Ghostbusters posters are a homage/rip-off of Lester Beall's Rural Electrification Administration Posters from the 30s...http://www.metmuseum.org/toah/hd/dsgn2/ho_RL.2001.1.3.htm

Good artists imitate, great artists steal?

I think these are the best posters you've featured so far. I'm in love with The Rocketeer poster.
  • I can't say enough about the Manhattan poster. Beautifully apt.

Also, the subtlety in the Network poster is fantastic. Makes me think of Faye Dunaway and Peter Finch at once, which isn't an easy thing to do.

My favorite ones are 'The Wizard' and 'They Live.'

    Great stuff.

Wow, so sleek! Minimal and impacting...that a double bonus:)

The Wizard? Now that takes me back...looking back it's a worthless film (and shameless in that it was nothing more than a 90 minute commercial for The Power Glove and Super Mario Brothers 3) but still a great poster design though!

I'm loving TDK poster with the bank heist joker (at inPRNT).

Though I'm kind of tired of these and I'm sure someone started the trend, these are actually some of the best I've seen so far.
