Watch the Oscar-Nominated Short Film Logorama

logorama

One of the short films we were left raving about at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival was an animated film titled Logorama. I was convinced at the time that the short would never see the light of day due to the obvious legalities involved. But I guess since it has now been nominated for the ultimate award, the creators are no longer afraid to put it online.

Written and directed by the French team of François Alaux and Herve de Crecy, and created over the course of a few years, this Best Animated Oscar-Nominated short film features a world full of brand logos and corporate mascots (I’m sure a couple thousand appear in all — it even features fictional companies like the Buy N Large logo from Pixar’s Wall-E) Watch the short film now, embedded after the jump.

And did anyone else see that the guy who voiced "Pringles Original" is named David Ficher?

    Fincher, not Ficher.

I'm sure McDonald's loves to see there trademark character as a insane assassin...
  • The short is fresh at the beginning but quickly gets repetitive and tiresome. It's obvious that the filmmakers have heavy disdain for big corporation and their ethics. Not amazing imo, but a interesting way to make a very blatant point.

    That was awesome
  • This is nuts! Great watch. I guess we wait to see which will be the first corporation to crack a sad over it.

    That was... insane.

This seriously got an Oscar nom? Please...the visuals and the story were not very impressive. They could've at least pulled off some better 3D renders.

Brilliant use of The Ink Spot's "I Don't Want To Set The World On Fire" here. Thumbs up on the short film!

It was good but I'd have to see a higher quality vid to get all that's in there. Story and dialogue was weak but visuals were amazing. I'm guessing, with all of the logos that the only way they can release this thing is for free.

    Needs more cereal mascots.
  • Bahbahbah
    Horrible quality.
  • Huh. Visually it was great, but I don't know if I could have found the characters and story any more lackluster.

You really thought that was a story about cops chasing a bad guy?

    hehe

Even the allegory was too obvious in my opinion, and didn't make up for the lack of a compelling plot, or ending. But the idea is what makes it great.
  • I agree. The novelty of the visuals dies off after a bit, and we're left with thrown-together afterthoughts of character and story.
  • That was the COOLEST short ever. I just linked this to everyone at the ad agency I work for. Watching that was like a breath of fresh air. So refreshing.
  • That short was made of awesome! More mascots committing felonies please! Ha!

On Youtube there is a vid with better quality, but this is unbelievable amazing.
I've seen the trailer a few weeks ago, and since this time i can't wait to see this and now i'm so surprised how good it is

Link por favor? I don't like the quality of the video in the above post so it'd be great to get a HQ vid.
